  9. Since the new year, I've turned my attention to materials other than tails.. Nothing wrong with the tails constructions but I wanted a new perspective.. and that perspective was perspective.. Angled shapes started out as a lazy harlequin pattern in complimentary colors. Because of the pattern it became the Jester. This was my first run at edge joining materials that were not already hemmed. The Jester followed by a vanishing point perspective in dissimilar materials. Because of keeping the grain of the fabric somewhat aligned for Midnight Royal Taboo, those strips f

    FS #10

    From the album: Riffclown's Homemades

Full Sail #10 83.5" Leading Edge.. Once again constructed from Gomberg Transition Kite Tails.
  11. This one is a bit differently sized than my typical builds.. It is a 83.5" Leading Edge. Midway between the 1.5 and 2.0 sizes.. This will either be my new night kite or the middle kite in a future progressive stack. Temporary bridles at the moment since I've never tied bridles this size. ZERO wind but still started with a toss, followed by a ground catch..

    One Year

So this is the week. A year ago, I was futilely trying to keep ANY conversation alive over on the Revolution forum when @John Barresi said, join us over here at KiteLife. Now, I been at Kitelife a year and what a year that has been. In that time my kiting world has changed immensely. I started out like many others, as a free member and quickly saw the advantages of this special community and now I'm a paid subscriber for at least the next 2 years or so. I feel I've made some lifelong friends here and I wholly appreciate the open arms and open minds with which you, my fellow KiteLife members an
  13. From the album: riffclown's kite album

Flying the 8M Toxic in it's own apparent wind. There was not enough wind to fly but I HAD to fly something for the kids..
  14. Practicing my side slide over the kite eating lake.. FWIW, We ALL put a kite in the water this week.. Some intentionally, some not so much.. Also for the record, seawater soaked, sandy ripstop is HEAVY1
  15. Those of you that hang out with me in the chat room know I've been talking about this for a while. I've done it successfully a few times with my Rev Stack... With the new stack, and shorter stack line and 35' flying lines, I was able to hit it about 90% of the time. Today was the first time ever twice in a row and the first time for video.. I don't think I've ever seen anyone else even try this.. Enjoy!!
  16. I wrote the instructions up and posted them for your use. This takes a small Dual line foil to a whole new level. Stops on a dime and spins like there's no tomorrow. With a few materials and bit of time you can tweak an otherwise good stunt foil into a Quadline Contender.. ***Note the plans are for 8 point bridles and will work fine.. The kites I customize will have a 9 point bridles which aids in reverse flight and stability. http://www.riffclown.com/kites/HQ2.2.4Conversion.pdf Flying Demo And in a bit higher wind I even took my first buggy ride us
  17. By request a repost and update of my Reflex Review The Rev Reflex is a different animal indeed. The Springs do change the wing shape and dead launch from face down is almost as easy as a standard reverse launch. The springs did however also change some of the responsiveness in the very light wind conditions.. When step accelerating a dive, you have the load the wing with a heavier hand at each step and plan again for loading the wing with the dive stop. It's almost like a delayed reaction. I like the larger size but, dislike that I don't have multiple frame options and interchangeabilit
