  1. A nice story and a couple of kite aerial photos of the medieval heart of Ljubljana, Slovenia was just published on our KAP website ... 😉 Launched from a tricky, narrow place with a lot of turbulence - but with quite good results it was worth having a couple of litle heart attcks 🙂 ...
  2. Have to share this ... Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia, as seen from a kite: https://kapjasa.wixsite.com/kap-jasa/single-post/2019/03/11/Ljubljana-Beloved
  3. We're pleased to yet again announce the next prize being given away to our most appreciated supporters, the Kitelife Subscribers... Actual prize kite is white and blue, as shown in the photo and video above. == Info on the Kite Forge website: http://kiteforge.com/product/kaiju/ http://kiteforge.com/help-tutorials/ == If you haven't done so already, You can sign up here. Odds of winning for this prize is currently 1/363, and will be drawn on June 10th, 2018! Our thanks, and the very best to you... Let the drooling begin.
  4. Full day dedicated to learning our way around short line (30') quad line flying - focus on tuning, basic "holding patterns" to maintain flight with minimal effort, 360s, up and over, catch and throw, variable and no wind conditions. Light / variable wind flying in urban environments IS possible without a great deal of effort after you've got a handle on the fundamentals - then you can fly anywhere, even your front yard or in a local courtyard. We only have space for SIX students this time around, this is a one day semi-informal gathering at Overlook Park in Portland, OR... Registration is $100 per person, discounted to $75 for KiteLife subscribers. Location - https://goo.gl/maps/NH7rr46qrDw Video from the same location... Students should come equipped with 30 foot lines - 50# Skybond is preferred, but 90#/100# or LPG is acceptable... You'll also do best with a STD 1.5 size Revolution kite equipped with 2 wrap, black race or diamond rods, it could also be useful to have mid-vent but it's rarely needed. 5. I've been doing a fair bit of urban/street kiting on my Revs recently and I thought I might be able to share some tips. Feel free to chime in with what works for you. Pick your area. Clean air isn't important, in fact it adds an element of excitement. Cars and people MUST be considered, law suits can eat up future kite purchases. Consider street lights if going out at night. Obstacles like trees, shrubs can be detrimental but signs, bike racks and playground equipment are a plus! It never hurts to have a look around before you pull any gear out. Pick your equipment. Buildings can both cause a wind shadow and a wind funnel. Distances of free space will affect your line length. Pick your time. Watch out for midnight watering schedules. Or even early morning deliveries. Most importantly is to be safe about it.
  6. Believe it or not, I don't actually fly locally very much... Sometimes though, I get the itch and wander out to one of my favorite Portland haunts. They all have one thing in common, pretty variable winds of anywhere from 0-8 mph with changing directions... Fact is, that stuff really gets me off and I'm very much at home with it. This time out I went to Eastbank Esplenade, on the east side of the Willamette River, immediately north of the Hawthorne Bridge - $1 per hour parking, all concrete or asphalt and mostly covered by two overpasses (I-5) so it works even when it's raining.
