  1. We're pleased to yet again announce the next prize being given away to our most appreciated supporters, the Kitelife Subscribers... For roughly 10 cents per day they play a major role in keeping KL growing in every way. Repeat of our March drawing, identical package! Three brand new digitally printed performance (quick dry) shirts in Large size (almost XL fit) each with the following graphics: Kite Forge (small breast logo, large back logo) Team KiteLife (small breast logo, large back logo) JB / KiteLife (small JB breast logo, large KiteLife logo and more on back) Total prize value around $80, I do apologize for not having sizes available to choose from, these are left over from an earlier order as these are what I wear when I'm out "working" in the field(s). == Remember, you must have an active KiteLife subscription to be entered, but you can sign up here! Odds of winning for this prize is currently 1/359, and will be drawn on Apr 20th, 2018! Our thanks, and the very best to you... Let the drooling begin!
  2. Alright Karma friends, in order to celebrate Valentine's Day in KiteLife fashion, this drawing is going to spread some kite love. The lucky winner will get a $40 gift certificate from the kite shop of their choice (spreading the love to the folks that feed our need) and a 1 year subscription to KiteLife, either a renewal or a new subscription for the winner or gifted to a friend (gotta send some love to @John Barresi who makes all of this possible). PAY CLOSE ATTENTION, BECAUSE I'M THROWING IN AN ENTRY TWIST!!!! To enter post "I'm in" or some variant thereof PLUS tell me why you love kites. The RNG is going to choose the winner at some point on Valentine's day and I'll accept entries right up until the drawing. +++++++ Some rules and guidelines: Don’t play unless you’re willing to put up a prize and ship it to whoever wins. Shipping is paid by the original poster, the winner pays nothing. Be prepared to ship your prize anywhere in the lower 48 US States. Sorry, but due to shipping costs, we really have to limit this to the lower 48 US States. RULE CHANGE (7/31/2014): Members from Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii are welcome to enter the Karma drawings provided they are willing to pay half of the Karma prize shipping cost. The method and timing of the payment will be agreed upon between the two parties after the drawing for a particular prize. You can choose the length of the giveaway, but keep it between 1 and 2 weeks. Try to ship the prize promptly. You should be able to ship it within a week, but if you can’t, PM the winner and let them know. Sometimes life gets in the way! This whole thing works on the honor system so if there are any problems shipping or receiving a prize, it needs to be worked out between the two parties. Don’t forget…Karma! This isn’t a competition, but feel free to be generous! If you can only put up a hat, or a tail for a stunt kite, great! If you have something in your kite bag that you never fly and would be willing to ship, that’s great too. Either way, the people that join to win it will appreciate it. When you receive your prize, post a thank you to the thread where you won it. The thread will be locked after that point so the new **KARMA** stays above it. Good luck, and have fun!

  4. Getting back in the groove of things....
  5. I have been quite busy....and embarrassed I have not done more than basic shares with this yet. Stay tuned. I had 3 short runs while there. A few really challenging moments with soooooooooo many kites in the air. Big lifters...a gajillion homemade kites flying on anything that could be used for flying line. Quite an experience... Even met some kite fliers from KiteLife that I didn't know about...from the Caribbean. Do the search.....you will be very impressed at some kite flying in different parts of the world...the competition and goals of competing are very different from what we see The clear box kite and crew are the ones I am referring to..they made this kite, along with some of the night kites in the hotel lobby. no test...launch it baby...let's see what it does! Awesome! I was so stoked to have a camera in the air Until then..... Enjoy some KAP photos from Cartagena, Colombia https://flic.kr/s/aHskiH8SfQ
  6. I love this place....you guys and gals rock! Along with all the knowledge...every once in awhile a suprise pops in from a fellow member. Thanks Marshall...totally not needed...but will be well used indeed! Maybe next week? Did I mention I LOVE THIS PLACE! Keep doin' what your doin'....a recipe for a great family!
  7. I have not researched this ...so please forgive me if there is a thread dedicated to this subject. Been here a little while and don't recall ever seeing anything other than modded attachment methods via Jeff Burka somewhere. Has anyone attemted using a more foregiving bungee other than stock? It's storming and I am bored.... I would think that it would allow the sail to cup and grab air a little more...thus giving more frame flex. These kites and I don't exactly click. I can fly them fine...just doesn't feel right too me.
  8. EXTENDED ENTRY UNTIL FEB. 20,2014 Ok everyone...here is your chance to be immortalized in Quad Heads Kitelife history! What started as something for a giggle and smile....has gained momentum. What exactly is this? Best "Got Whump?" Tshirt design challenge What can you win? Not only do you get the first shirt of the winning design fresh of the presses free! Mr. B himself has been so kind as to throw in and extra bonus..a 1 year Kitelife subscription or Renewal! This challenge will run through January 1, 2014.. With a winner to be announced by January 14, 2014 So don't miss your chance!!!!!! Designs to be posted to this thread. Winner will be chosen by JB with great influence from input on peoples favorite designs. lwhump wh-ump verb using arm motion and backward stride, to pull the flat of a sail toward you using all four lines in order to create pressure and flex in the frame, producing drive."the pilot whumped his sail to load up and initiate forward flight" synonyms: load, initiate, kick, tap; similar technique, applied very quickly to accentuate and power up through a short, precise movement."he whumped his kite into a forward roll one foot above the ground, finishing in a solid forward 45 landing" synonyms: load, initiate, kick, tap; One hint from the man himself ..too quote " I think the Rev silhouette would be best, "well loaded", as if it's just been whumped"........ if used Reference whump material : http://kitelife.com/forum/topic/5530-pigtails-tuning-your-rev-with-knotted-leaders/page-5#entry37769 http://kitelife.com/forum/topic/5645-rev-needs-some-personality-training/?view=findpost&p=39425&hl=whump http://kitelife.com/forum/topic/5581-short-line-flying-on-walkwaysstreetspathways/?view=findpost&p=38349&hl=whump http://kitelife.com/forum/topic/5670-tip-pivotsladder-up-down-and-a-little-zone-envy/?view=findpost&p=40046&hl=whump http://kitelife.com/forum/topic/5584-what-is-different-here/?hl=whump Throughout these links you will find details, definitions and video of said "Whumping" for review and a better understanding And for non forum members... Sign up is free and can be done right here : register Once settled in...head over for some live action chat So whip out your pencils, pens, and keyboards and get to work! The clock is ticking...... Good Luck! I will be excluding myself from the challenge as to remain unbiased. If anyone needs help or assistance .....shoot me a p.m. without fear of me stealing your ideas ...and for some humor associated.... Hi! My name is Scott. I fly Revs and I'm a Whumper.. I didn't always Whump...Very little Whump involved in the beginning. But once I tried Whump..I knew right then and there, I couldn't Whump enough. In high wind I Whump a little less...In low wind I Whump a whole lot more. As a matter of fact, I will be Whumping not too long from now..Probably a mild Whump. So my Whumping question to you is........... Got Whump?
  9. What an adventure! 4 days of sun up to sun down flying with AWESOME people. A few loaded pics and a link to whats uploaded already. Some videos and more pics in the next day or so. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/k1movjyebbsk0qs/AADGqPljL-fsyoFzOK7uppr_a
  10. Here are a couple shots of my new night time playground I found on the web tonite browsing. I have flown here during the day, but it gets a little crowded. There are many obstacles..trees,light poles...tall and short. Some nice soft grass for the warm barefoot nights. Across the street is a full city block the same width as pictured....with A LOT of the above obstacles. I fly mainly 50' lines here if the wind is smooth.....otherwise its down to 30' and can be challenging, but thats what makes it fun! This being the heart of Jax Beach ...and night time... It can have its moments with patrons from local establishments....... . Jax Beach Sea walk Pavilion
  11. Tonite was the nite.... I paced all night at work and could hardly sit still. I knew that just on the otherside of that door in front of me, the wind was pumping....and it was prime B2 Vented time. Finally the time came and I rushed to a large field in front of our Jax Beach Amphitheatre. Thunderbirds...a popular concert venue had some live music pumping...the wind was 12/15 with some stronger gust occasionally. I grabbed the kite,2 sets of lines(30'&50'*50#) and 2 sets of handles(9"&11"). The 50' happened to be on the larger handles ....so away we went. I unrolled ,hooked up the kite....and with no hesitation, stood up and threw it. Ooooooooowwwwwweeeeeee! It reached the line length quick and popped up ready! A quick lap around the window and I couldn't resist....... An axel off to each side. After an hour of grinning and flying 2' of a1a or 1st street....had some onlookers and police hanging around, so I wrapped it up before bar closing time. Thanks again to KiteLife for the chance to have won this kite and providing me with the endless knowledge on how to fly it...... Only 1 picture. I don't like setting my camera down at nite in that environment. Get some video before too long.
  12. So Oats called me up today and we hooked up for a little beach fun! Plus, he has been itching for a spin on the B2 full vent. A little cell phone camera play and a few pics.I flew mostly the new to me Rev 1 today...pretty fun! First time i have flown a Rev 1. Also put a few minutes in on the new Rev2. Sean....was hooked up to a Rev1 also...but with the offer of the B2, it quickly got swapped out.
