  3. Hi Kitelifers, Edit: August 21 2017 - Follow my Rev Kite learning journey (from day zero to present) in this thread!! Join me, share the failures and achievements, feel free to chime in if you read something you experienced too! I'm brand spanking new hoping to make some awesome new kite friends in the San Francisco Bay area..I'm in Santa Clara and frequent the Kite Lot in Mountain view by Google, flying RC stuff secretly. Ive done research and know there's a Bay Area kite sport league or something, and big kite groups up in Berkeley. That's just too far for my tight schedule. So hoping to meet some folks around closer here that will be willing to "take me under their wing" (or kite). I'm madly interested in the Rev kites. Actually I'm this close to dropping my wallet for the new EXP Rx kite, but at the same time, I really rather just get the Classic 1.5 and spend longer in the learning curve. I don't mean to start anything with the kite naming here, I'm just going with what is available to me today as a new comer. I am aware of the history of Rev and the whole rebranding debacle that happened recently (yes, I've been lurking and researching a ton on Rev kites already even though I've never touched one yet) A mentor and flying friend on the weekends will be awesome, hoping to meet someone really soon whos willing to help guide me to my first purchase. The summer is already here and the winds are insane! Thanks and appreciate all of you.
  4. From the album: Exult's Photos

"Flowers?" you may ask - well I didn't get them for this event, they were already around at the time when receiving the shipment. However this is a happy, problematic and almost solemn occasion. I stepped into my time machine (not true) to order a new kite from the past (very true). I ordered an un-opened Prism Vapor kite. The kite was sold as #107 (but I don't know I haven't opened it) and the transparent tube contains a signed paper by Mark Reed and Scobie Puchtler (if the kite itself also carries the signatures I don't know). This is over-kill and I don't want this. I mean I very much appreciate having a Vapor, the look is that of pure beauty, I'm really curious how it is to fly it and have really drooled over it also in the past. It's the most collectors kite that I've ever had and that is the problem. This gets in the way of actually using it! How should I use it? Indoor only? Use it in mud and sand (which is how I use kites because a lost kiting opportunity in itself never comes back)? Hang it in the ceiling as a decoration (which I would do if I unrealistically would have several)? But in the end I don't think that there is another kite with its looks and other properties - the only way that I can see is to try it out. But still I can't get it out of my head, i.e. The Clash's hit "Should I stay or should I go?" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmEMMyvZHcw ), but with the text replaced with the alternative text: "Should I fly or should I trade?", again, again and again... I didn't order any of the Aliens (already got one and used it last Sunday (along with the Elixir) b.t.w.) or the Radians. The Radians (also from a time when the form of a dual stunt kite was less well standardized - compare this to early bicycles or or car models) really look non-standard and most likely feels different to fly from any other kite that I flown. I even still remember them from the catalogue I saw by the end of the nineties. I'm curious, but sometimes you need to chose not to yield to temptation.
  5. My name is Carlos (aka CACO) and I am 46 y/o from Montevideo UY .. I am new in this kite world! Last year I bought one dual line stunt kite and a stowaway parafoil and I have a lot of fun flying them. I usually fly in Punta del Este and José ignacio beaches, average winds 10knots Now I want to upgrade to a quad Rev! Pls feel free to give me tips or suggestions. best regards to all caco
  6. Just returned from the Wildwood Kite Festival and discovered my teenage daughters had a great time learning to fly dual line stunt kites. While there, i pulled out a couple of old beetles to let them practice but that didn't last long. On both of them, the spreader connection broke after a couple of collisions. So now I'm in the market to replace them. I've had the Beetles for awhile and was wondering if any of you would chime in with first-hand experience with any new beginner models released since the Beetles. I'm looking for a delta, two-line stunter with a good wind range, not too quick, preferably under $80. Thanks in advance, Phil
  7. I wanted to take this time to officially introduce ourselves to the kiting enthusiasts out there and thank the good folks at Kitelife Magazine for allowing us to join their forum. As of May 1st this year, Kites.com officially launched with the intentions of ultimately being a central hub for kiting fanatics. Although we're still young, we are eager to get to know the "who's who" in the kite world. We offer a solid selection of single line, stunt and power kites, but are also actively looking for more suppliers who fit our business model. We welcome everyone to check out the site and give any suggestions and/or criticism they like. All feedback is good feedback. - Kites.com "Let your fun take flight!"
