  5. Hi Kitelifers, Edit: August 21 2017 - Follow my Rev Kite learning journey (from day zero to present) in this thread!! Join me, share the failures and achievements, feel free to chime in if you read something you experienced too! I'm brand spanking new hoping to make some awesome new kite friends in the San Francisco Bay area..I'm in Santa Clara and frequent the Kite Lot in Mountain view by Google, flying RC stuff secretly. Ive done research and know there's a Bay Area kite sport league or something, and big kite groups up in Berkeley. That's just too far for my tight sche
  6. Hello, I 've been flying my B series revs the last the three months using the knots suggested in the video that came with the kite. I can manage all the slides and hovers. Recently, someone suggested that I should fly with a longer pigtails because that's is how Team Iquad fly. Being a newbie, I took the suggestion and made some longer pigtails and fly at the most outer knots at possible. The problem is I am not sure why I am doing so. Can someone explain the principal behind this? Thanks!
  7. Looking at a Brand-new 5- piece, 2-wrap frameset for a Revolution 1.5. This frame has never been installed or flown, in original Rev packaging. 2 Wrap rods are the lightest and most fragile rods for outdoor use. These rods have a similar stiffness to the 3-wrap and 4-wrap rods. These rods are best suited for low wind. 2-wrap rods are identified by their label with 2 feathers, the words “Professional Use ” with an internal diameter of 1/4 inch. Drawing will take place in the evening (Mountain-Standard time) of January 5, 2018. To enter, reply here with "I'm in." Numbers will
  8. So I have had my Rev Reflex RX for 3 days and the wind has been ok to fly every day, I'm down in Plymouth in the UK and we never struggle for a sea breeze and living 500m from a huge set of public football pitches on top of a hill it is one of the best flying sites for miles. The first day the wind was a little light and variable with a 30 deg shift in direction which made my first experience of flying a quad a "challenge" to say the least only ever flying dual line stunt kites before it was mentally very challenging to get the inputs of the quad correct and when things happened quickly
  9. Hi all, just an FYI - with the same quality she applies to our Pro Leaders, TK has also started tying up bridles that are compatible with any common model of 1.5 (including EXP, SLE, NYM, B-Series, etc) in ! They are available in a variety of colors using 100% cored bridle line, these are no factory build - totally accurate! We also have SUL compatible bridles made with 90# LPG Spectra, great for those ultralight 1.5 kites! ORDER HERE ---> http://kitelife.com/forum/store/category/5-accessories/
  10. Sun Aug 6 13:00:00 CEST 2017 GF, forecasted (not applicable - didn't seem to match) Rev B-series standard, 2 wrap tubes most of the time Lines 25m, 60kg (front) and 40kg (rear) Today's winds were a bit erratic and mostly weak. It was cloudy and the ground was a bit moist from recent rain. When I came to the field I realized that I had forgotten the kite stake at home (an old screwdriver with red tape wound around the handle). Normally I never deal with them, but then "normally" until some months ago meant one DLK. I find kite stakes handy in two cases. When having the DLK lines con
  11. Got one thnx! Wanting to buy a used Revolution kite! Eyeing a 1.5 B-series, midvent, 3wrap. Since it's gonna be a first ever quad, I'll also be looking for handles and lines. Preference for local deals so we could meet up and skip the hassle of packing for shipping and all that extra effort. Feel free to PM me too, thanks all and really appreciate it! Also looking for any 1.5 style rev (Reflex, Classic, vented, etc.) If you're thinking of letting one of your revs go, pm me please! Has to be RTF.
  12. I have both a shockwave and a supersonic the winner will get a choice of one kite (no lines or handles), both are in good shape, drawing will be held on November 16th. 14. So recently I aquired a set of Shanti Skybond 100'x100# quads. I told myself in the beginning...I would fly both major makers and form my own views on what I liked. So no better time than now! I have flown a full year or so with LPG, different weights and lengths..so time for a change. I have about 50 hours or so on this Skybond set. I have to say that I am liking them. After flying opk with Skybond lines, my interest peaked even more... good timing as I am in need of all lenghts and weights again. My initial thoughts were super slippery. The coating used is great so far. A little color fade..
  15. Believe it or not, I don't actually fly locally very much... Sometimes though, I get the itch and wander out to one of my favorite Portland haunts. They all have one thing in common, pretty variable winds of anywhere from 0-8 mph with changing directions... Fact is, that stuff really gets me off and I'm very much at home with it. This time out I went to Eastbank Esplenade, on the east side of the Willamette River, immediately north of the Hawthorne Bridge - $1 per hour parking, all concrete or asphalt and mostly covered by two overpasses (I-5) s
  16. I purchased a Rev 1.5 SLE back some time ago. There is a long list of thinks that kept me from flying it. But glad to say I'm leaving for the beach in the morning and it's packed in the truck. I've watched all of the training videos on the Rev kites but I don't seem to find anything about the first launch for a beginner quad person. So my first question is do you try to start inverted with the handles staked like the gentleman shows in the line management video and make the kite roll over, or set it in the upright position with the top leaning back to keep it on the ground? My second questi
  17. Mike, Rose and Steve, three members of the 180 GO! Revolution kite flying team, perform with their personal kites over and near a 360 degree video camera at Montrose Beach in Chicago, Illinois. We had a small group from the Illinois Kite Enthusiasts http://www.ikeclub.org show up on March 28 at frozen Montrose Beach. I placed my 360 video camera about 8 inches off the sand and asked Mike, Rose and Steve to fly their Revs in the area. The camera perspective and optics makes it appear that they were flying a distance away. For much of the time they had the kites within about 25 feet. The final
