Fighter kite disinterest?

Recommended Posts

The fastest smallest kite 7 inches across going probably 40 mph stopping on a dime spinning and acting like a crazy ufo is something every one should partake in. Sure it takes a bit of skill development to get line tension controlled but then it's sooo much fun. Make your own for free.  Standard fighter kites like from India and Asia are nothing but fun and engaging battles with a new friend.

Location matters for that.

If you are in a location where the cheap fighter kites are flown, go for it. People flying inexpensive (nearly free) kites with the expectations that they will be cut, that's understandable and part of the culture.

If you are in a location where more expensive gear is used, don't even think about bringing it to the site. Cutting line can do thousands of dollars of damage in seconds. Expect to be detained by people on the field, have banking information shared (demanded, really) before being allowed to leave, and possibly even police called to remove you, or to press charges and document the damage.

Know which location and group you are in.

Get what your point is. A time and place for everything. I don't actually compete to cut an opponents kite down usually. Glass impregnated string is quite dangerous. I fly solo so it's no imposition on other flyers as I usually fly on a very short line 20 yards. It's great fun with the miniature fighters as they are much faster and reactive. Around here the big fighter kite festival is in January. Real hard core fighters. Trees full of destroyed kites. Awsome fun.

Yeah, around january our culture program holds a big kite festival, I made some invisible fighters and caused some mass damage to other fighters, they provided us with glass thread which was great but I need to order better quality from India. What winds do you fly 7 inch kites in.

It is pretty dangerous to fly a fighter with other expensive kites in the area but, I went to walmart and bought some drop line which isn't the best but it gets the job done for kite line, I flew my fighters at the big kite festival that is hosted by ABC every year in Austin.

Fighters can also achieve breathtaking heights, During the kite festival (which is a plane free zone) atleast the one hosted by my cultural program, we tied like 9 spools of thread together and sent a kite ultra high and managed to bring it down without it breaking, fun times.

The  tiny kites need a little bit more wind. 10 mph is enough. Super fast and spinny at 20+.  I like flying them on shot lines usually but they can go up as high as you have string. Have a clear plastic fighter too. It's funny because you can't see it high up and people think you are fake flying nothing. Well I kind of act like I might be doing that sometimes anyway. What?
