2 wrap/3 wrap....vented/non-vented

Yes.

To my knowledge, the 1/4-inch come in 2-, 3-, and 4-wrap, and the 7/16-inch SLE come in 3- and 4-wrap. 2-wrap are labeled "Professional Only", 3-wrap labeled "Ultralight", and 4-wrap "Revolution Equipped". EXP sticks are 3-wrap and might not be labeled at all. I think there are 5-wrap "Stiff" sticks out there, but they don't seem to be commonly used with 1.5s from what I can tell.

Now that I have 2-, 3-, and 4-wrap sticks, I haven't used my 3-wrap SLE sticks in about a year now. I, like many others here, prefer the more flexible 1/4-inch sticks.

What you need to remember is that the 1/4" is the measure of the inside of the tube (the diameter I think) not the tube itself. If you were to compare a 4 wrap spar to a 2 wrap spar, the 4 wrap would look bigger, but the hollowed out middle would be the same size. I was confused by this too once. Then I heard John B mentionn something about it.

Ahhh, that definitely clears it up for me! Thats the best description I've heard yet! Thank You!

Eventually I'm going to replace my SLE rod with something else and I've been trying to narrow that down. Looks like overall forum opinion thus far is to go with a 3 wrap. As I get more skilled I'll know what type of flying I prefer. Right now all I know is that I'm not looking for power / speed flying. That's what turned me off about my dual line kite.

I thought as much but wasn't sure. I know the SLE rod is about 1/2" diameter. Are the 1/4" rods solid?

No. They are tubes, so there is a hole going down the center of them, that's what th 1/4'' refers to. Is that waht you meant by Solid?

Ok, so they are tubes (which are 1/4" diameter), and therefore not solid! Understand.

Penny,

The Superblast (now called the Powerblast 2-4) comes with the 4 wrap (rev equipped) rods. The only way I know of to get a spar that has more than 4 wraps is to call Rev and have them custom made. I know it is a long wait time for heavy wrapped rods tho.
