OK...I could use some bridle help here.

I just completed a quad based on the "Quad sail plan" in the "kitebuilder" forum, for lighter winds than my "B" fully vented quad will fly in.

I tried the bridle lengths that are in the Freedom 200 article and the lengths were too short for my kite.

I am using three 32.5" Skyshark P200s for the top spar and 32.5" 5.3mm spars for the vertical rods. So my top spar is 97.5" long with Pekr fittings.

I have stayed true to the dimensions of the drawing in the original article rather than the Freedom 2000 drawings.

Here's the question, and I hope I can phrase it so you out there in HELP land can figure it out.

Am I right in assuming that the top and bottom tow points should line up with the vertical spars and that the distance from the top tow points to the spar and the center to the spar should be long enough to effect a slight concave bow to the sail when under tension.

With the kite in flat plane, top to bottom, the tow points top and bottom should be offset, front to back the same distance and the bow in the flight handles.

I am a beginner but got it in the air and was able to fly it up...stop and reverse direction, (big learning curve here) in 4-8 mph flukey winds, along with allot of ...well...off the ground and quick spin back to the ground in both directions.

I am just worried that if my assumptions are not correct that I am in for a very long learning cycle.

Am I OK? Or not?

It sounds to me like you have only four points connecting tot he kite. Is this correct? The bridal should connect to the kite in seven places (all end caps, and in the center of the LE). If I am just not understanding correctly, and you are talking about where the lines connect tot he bridal, then it sounds fine to me, however, I have never built a kite before.......

I hope I get this right...this is the kite. It flys.

I am just in the dark about the bridle. In all of the plans the bridle dimensions are so exact that I am worried that if I deviate from them terrible will happen.

I tried to use the dimensions given for the kite plan but the distances of the bridle were too short so I just started from scratch. I am needing info about the general structure of the bridle, i.e., tow points directly over the vertical spars, etc.

Stuff like that.

Everyone is so up-tight about the bridle that I have seen 1/2" changes that are supposed to make a kite fly better...be more responsive, etc.

I have left the bridle ends long so I can adjust them.

The entire bridal structure looks a bit loose, but I don't think that will cause any problem. If it seems to fly well, then it is probably set up correctly.
