trilby kites

ah, i am very very happy today because it's my first day flying trilby!

well, i always love watching train kites with long tails swirling in the sky with nice music.

This summer in WSIKF, i met two trilby flyers ("just for fun" Phil and barbara burks) and almost tried to fly trilby

(because they are so nice and encouraging, then, didn't fly because of the weather). however, talking to Barbra and Phil

motivated me to start with trilby---- how hard could that be, they look so innocently simple....

so in the auction, i bought a set of three trilby. once i got the set, i was happy and worried---they don't fit in our kite bag.. i wish to make a carrying bag for them... ah, never be afraid to dream.... i told Theresa my wish and guess what?

THERESA THE GREAT helped me make my dream come true!!! my last night with her, we drew the design and figure out the sequence to sew during our dinner (on a napkin!), then went home and made the bag (first time sewing since over 12 years)! that was august, right? now, after all two months of everything else, today i finally get to the field and flew the trilby!!!!

oh, at the AKA, i got a package of unopened trilby (purple) so i have a single to start with...

today i tried the single one for a while, then switched to the set of three (yellow, red and blue)

it was not hard at all! they behave so well, i love them immediately --- (although i have to admit,

it's more the concept of swirly long tails that i am in love with trilby, not so much about their artistic asset)

we were at the grass near the harbor, so the wind is fairly clean. It's sunday, so before the crowd gets busy,

i pulled out the trilby and flew ---- in the beginning, my circles were small, but i soon figured out how to work my body to

dance with the kite to do the things i want.... and i am not even a dual line flyer (mostly i enjoy flying rev and single, recently more windless)hahaha....

it was so much fun that i feel that i am in love again.

ok, that's the highest remark.... ah, kiteflying is the honey to the soul, especially if you love dancing.

here, T if you are reading it, "LOVE YA" and a big big hug from a happy flyer!

Thinking about my experience today, my one step forward into my dream, my kitelife, does represent

"what kiteflying means to me".... so many wonderful flyers whose flying inspired me, and friendly people

like Phil and Barbara bridged the gap and inspired me to move toward what seem wonderful to me and start to live that dream.

magic people like T facilitated my realizing the wish/thought into something solid in my hands... made me feel

so proud of myself and confident with all these blessings in kite world....

now my today was not just a mere chance but a beautiful weaving of so many wonders that happens FOR me!!!! love and gratitude.

ok, that's it, my excited mumble jumble...

what a perfect day

Love to all flyers who share themselves with all people in the world

Litsong

ps: and i did it without Wen's help! (he was busy with the team flying all day)

pps: ok, i borrowed his line set

ps: i would admit that i keep thinking about "if wen can see me now"...while he was too busy with the team on the other field with their back toward me....

Ah, Yes....reading here late tonight :D Your happy words give me a smile :dizzy:

Many smiles :) :) :) :)

You CAN do it! And you did it! :)

Hugs,

T

missing you.......

I caught a glimpse of this post on the way out and then didn't get back to it... Sounds fantastic Litsong.. It's so peaceful what the kite does for the soul. Money can't make you happy, but kites can.

Yes, if you imagine it, you can do it... so why can't I imagine winning money at the casino? :)

Hugs to you !

So good to hear you are hooked ...

I wish you had been there when we were goofing with my custom trilby stack. You could have flown it as well . I think the trilbys are the reason I got hooked on kiting. And the tails are the reason.. I love them.

Another thing that you would love once you get comfy.. is to get 100 foot trilby tails... everything you do travels through the tails to the end.. it's just magnificent fun.

Are you going to be at WSKIF next year?

I had the opportunity to fly Doug LaRock's trilby stack of 25 kites. Honestly, I was really nervous, and when I launched them and went flying I was thankful that Doug had double handles on them. I have never experienced anything like it since. It was one of the defining moments in my life, seriously. I have some pics of the stack.. and me flying it.. ( or it flying me lol ) will find them for you.

hugs mousie

@T:

thank you thank you thank you

love you love you love you

for being there and see me through (to make the bag)

my trilby bag remind me of you, T all mighty, T true heart....

savoring your golden R jam on Wen's b day

endless blessings from you

@Penny

i can't really imagine it until i start to do it.

yes, kiting is for the soul, always more space then you understand in any concept

Kiting brought you into my life i know it's just the beginning.

being inspired by all kiters has been the main attraction to say the least.

@Amy:

ah, just so you know that a year ago i did not even know what "trilby mouse" meant.

getting to know you and love you and know that you name yourself after that kite

inspired me to pay attention to "trilby"

and the rest, is history (to meet "just for fun" sparked my intention to have my hands on one)

25!

ok, i still can't imagine that many,

so far i have 3 and i am getting it

Phil said he would put his stack (way more then 3) in my hands even before i fly any

thanks for the pictures, way cool!

25, on OPK?

or, please tell me how long it takes to wind up all those tails.....

(i don't have a clever system so it takes almost forever.... to squeeze out the air in the tube----not that i am complaining

shall i say, labor of love?)

sweet winds

i told Theresa my wish and guess what?

THERESA THE GREAT helped me make my dream come true!!!

hear that T? now we have to call you THERESA THE GREAT from now on :)

The meaning of the name Theresa, or Teresa, is "one who reaps". The name implies one who is destined to work hard, but who will receive great bounty for her efforts. The name is associated with the fall season of the earth's life cycle: a time of harvest, of plenty, of purposeful labors, of warmth and generosity. Theresa shares her harvest with the world, as the earth has given its fruits to Theresa, thus respecting and supporting the natural cycle of life.
