prittstick Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 Hi ..Just joined so a forum newbie but a kite oldie. Always wanted to take aerial pics with a small rocket or basically anything that could get aloft! After many fanciful thoughts over the years and to be honest doing nothing about them ! I recently had my chance...! My wife and I are keen metal detectorists here in the south east corner of the UK and our hobby has lead us into history in general and archaeology as well! Ok so after a detecting survey of a field near us led after many detecting man hours to 35 Roman coins we thought MMmm something in this field! Geophys ( arnt we lucky with our contacts eh!) discovered an enclosure! Archaeology continues but with the dry weather I thought this may show the archaeology and the best way to look would be from above..Looked on ebay for a camera initially that was man enough for the job.....Found a web page that listed cameras suitable and found a Cannon Ixus that took time lapse photos.... What I needed apparently. I then looked for camera rigs and found an ebay guy selling not just a harness but a kite as well! I snapped them up , took delivery and post my first ever KAP picks after first converting the AVI pics from the IXS to jpeg images! Thank you and onwards and upwards Tim Quote
John Barresi Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 That's awesome Tim. I'm not a KAP guy myself, but I love seeing the work of others! Did you see this article from issue 71 of Kitelife? http://kitelife.com/magazine/issue71/kap71/content.php Same author has sent us something for this next issue as well, to be released on the web first week of August. John Barresi Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 Is it purely a emag then ? I would be a little disappointed if it was That's correct, and we're quite clear about that... No games in that, just doing what we do, sharing the passion and keeping the roof overhead. Let me know if I can facilitate with anything, or answer any questions, anytime. Quote
prittstick Posted July 27, 2010 Author Report Posted July 27, 2010 All good and I agree with everything you say...( funny how this has turned into a subscription, post versus email thread! :-) ) Whatever you say I prefer my magazines and subscriptions in paper form..It suits me just fine to take a paper mag wherever I go and leave it wherever I like and to read it without booting anything up...I would pay twice possibly three times as much for a hard copy of your publication.. Its like flying a virtual kite. It is for me... p Quote
John Barresi Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 Fair enough, I totally understand. Have you found our out of print kite mags yet? All in PDF - http://www.kitelife.com/library Quote
