Just received from Ron:

Greetings to all of our kite friends.  I trust your new year is off and flying in a good way.  The rain here in Lincoln City today is blowing sideways, but that is ok because we will soon be flying indoors in the friendly confines of Taft High School.  That would be for the Lincoln City Indoor Kite Festival, March 23-26.  I am sending along a press release about the event and registration information for the competition.  I am pasting and attaching it as well.  Please let me know if there is more information you need and I hope to see some of you there.

There will be a brunch for all competition entrants on Saturday morning and there are lodging discounts available for competitors too.

Lincoln City, OR -  Prepare to be amazed, again.  The second Lincoln City Indoor Windless Kite Festival is coming to the Oregon coast on March 23-26, 2005.  Yes, it's true.  If you have the right kite and know how to do it, you can fly kites indoors without wind---and have great fun even if the weather outside is frightful!  So that everyone can enjoy this great sport, Lincoln City is bringing eight expert indoor kite fliers from the U.S. and Canada to demonstrate the art and teach kids of all ages how to soar without wind.  The festival will be held at Taft High School at 3780 SE Spyglass Ridge, just two blocks east of Highway 101 at High School Drive from 1 to 5 p.m. each day.

There is more to look forward to at the festival.  On Saturday, March 26th from 3-5 p.m., will be Oregon's first indoor kite flying competition.  This unique event will feature indoor kite fliers from all over the Northwest competing to qualify for the indoor Grand National competition at the 2005 American Kitefliers Association Championships in Ocean City, Maryland.

This great family entertainment and education opportunity is available to everyone during spring break for only $1 for admission ($2 for a family of two adults and children 15 and under) for all four days and $1 for the materials to build your own kite for flying.

This event is sponsored by  the Lincoln City Visitor and Convention Bureau, the Lincoln City Kite Friendship Association, Chinook Winds Casino Resort, Inn at Spanish Head, Sea Horse Oceanfront Lodging, An Exceptional Place to B & B Inn, Flying Things, Surftides Inn on the Beach, Tanger Outlet Center, Bel-Aire Inn, Dorchester House Gomberg Kite Productions International, The Bel-Aire Inn, Oregon Beach House Rentals, and Motel 6.

For a complete list of all times and activities, call the Lincoln City Visitor and Convention Bureau at 800-452-2151, 541-996-1274, or visit our website at www.oregoncoast.org.  To register for the competition call Ron Sears, 541-557-1110, or e-mail to rons@lincolncity.org.

:) I have to agree with you Mirecat!!!! Great peaple, great flyers... the event has upped itself 5 times of what it was last year in Lincoln City. International flyers, and top dog at that! I am looking forward to next year.

I am now working on the May 7th demo fun fly here in Bend Oregon. I came home to multiply emails!!! I am going to inquire to see if they would be interested in having an indoor demo also. Anyone interested?? The more the merrier as I see it, indoor and outdoor alike! Bend is a great vacation area and the city has been pulling out the stops to bring in people to fests and concerts here. Perhaps we can push this as an annual event???? lol. okok.. i am with you Mirecat, a bit jazzed up after just getting home from Lincoln City. I have some good pics I will send to John tonight . I know that Monkeyboy got the competition video taped also. Look for those soon I hope.

John...? ummm ya know that kite thingy I was talking to you about? Well ummm ... On my way out of town... I made one last stop... at the kite store.. and got my hands on the new trick wren... heheh.. I couldnt stop myself.. Now where the heck do I sign up for lessons????? eeekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk Tator??? Monkey? Lam??? John>???? oh sheesh.. see what those quick stops just to look will do to ya???

Readyyyyyyyyyyyyyy for the season to starttttttttttt...

Thanks to not only the organizers and worker bees but those that came to watch the event. We did have a fantastic time. I'm just tired now. Between the excitement and the pepsi I didn't sleep a wink Saturday night! :)

We had lights, smoke and aviance. The Parks deserve a big thank you for making the event so professional.

We look forward to doing it again. Now what? Now where are we going? Guess I better look at the calendar. :w00t: Oh, Mousie, keep your hands close together and lead that wren around! There, that's my version of a two string lesson. :w00t:

Lets keep raising the bar!
