Don't let the title of the topic mislead you, it started that way but went into broader subjects.

Post there is you can and want to, here if you're unable to. :)

I can only post here...for now at least!

Gee Wizz.....after reading Barbara's post at the AKA, I have to ask, "Is this the same Barbara???"...that was complaining, "on forum", about all the time it took to do the AKA things, (like answering e-mails???), and said that she had "family responsibilities" to attend to and had a lot of sewing to do (which was to make kites that she would personally sell for her own profit at festivals and at the AKA conventions???)

Come on......

There's just so much poppycock being passed around!!! And the AKA is suffering because of it!

Keep It Up?!?!

OK, here's my thoughts on the AKA... nice magazine, but are the issues worth $10+ each ? Really, the only thing I can tell my AKA dues go for is the magazine, and a bunch of political BS. There are NO AKA events in my area, local clubs, or members. I've corresponded with my 'regional director' many times, asking for any local info, and he's come up empty over the years. He was unfortunately too busy to attend Wildwood last year, so I haven't even ever met him in person. Nice guy in emails, though.

I'm going to give AKA one more chance next October in Wildwood, attend, and see if I continue to belong. I don't know, I guess I'm a cynic, or maybe I don't see the big picture... but I'd rather support Kitelife than AKA at this point !

Yeah....I was having some discussions with my 'regional director' early in my time with the AKA....I think his name was TeeCee....and something went down and he quit the AKA swearing never to come back. After that I wasn't able to communicate with him, but he was helpful to me, while he was there, and seemed to be a real nice guy.

Keep It Up!

Let me mention that I am a member of the AKA and am paid up for the next couple years and will continue to be a member after that if they make it through this transition.

I believe the founders of the AKA stood to make money indirectly by forming a "not for profit" kiting association and that today's AKA has to break out of that mind set, re-organize, and change their priorities to better serve the public, it's members and kiting as a whole.

I believe, "It will either grow or it will go!"

Keep It Up!
