I received a magazine called GEICONOW (auto insurance mag.) and I just flipped it open and there was an advertisement on page 4_"FAST LANE" called "GO FLY A KITE". It's by the AKA and it's got a "Great" picture of a family flying a kite in a flowery field and it mentions some upcoming festivals in it. It's really a great ad. and my hat's off to them on it! :)

(I tried to find it online so I could post it...I could get the GEICONOW mag, but not the advertisement.)

Very cool! You could take a picture of the mag and post it here. :)

"Ask and Thou shalt receive...Seek and Ye shalt find...Knock and the door will be open...." heehee!!

Here is the GEICONOW Travel Mag. (Spring/Summer 2011) from www.GEICONOW.com They actually have some pretty good articles in it.

And this is the AKA advertisement, which I thought was really a good ad! (Which is more then I can say for my IPhone pics.) heehee!

I'd guess that it's not an ad at all...

Looks like a "featured activity" in the Geico lifestyle magazine, and someone did a little homework to find the AKA, etc, as references.

Interesting they should highlight Lincoln City, Berkeley and WSIKF...

Great choices for sure, but I'm curious how they selected those events.

Hi John,

Yeah... Unfortunately, you are probably right!

When I saw it, my first impression was "amazement"..."The AKA is finally doing it right! They're finally running a some sexy "public" Madison Avenue type advertising for the AKA and the kite festivals!"

Well, maybe they can learn from the feature?!?!

I didn't start flying until I was 58 and during those years I never even heard of a kite festival or the AKA. It wasn't until I was on the "inside of kiting" that I learned about these things. It's like there was no public advertising going on at all. But, I'm sure good advertising is very expensive stuff.

I was thinking about that “feature” or Ad” by the AKA in GEICONOW and I thought I could do “something” more to better promote “Kitelife”.

I have this old Ford truck (2000) and it has a tail gate that doesn’t do much but sit there, so I went to Home Depot and got some letters from the mail box section and put them on that tail gate so it’s doing something better then just following me around…and “he” (the tail gate) is really happy with it too!! heehee!.

I drive real slow, because I’m retired and have no hurry in my life except to get to the flying fields, but, even with that, I figure about maybe 50 to 75 people probably pass me by each week…and if everyone did this…an awful lot of people would read "www.KITELIFE.com" which at the grass roots level…actually might make a difference. Let's see….how many members…how many miles…how many cars will see it…………….

HEY PETE!! You’re the numbers man…what do you say?? heehee!! (Oh yeah…he’s off at the kite festival.) Well, when you get back Pete…!?!?

Yeah…it isn’t “Madison Avenue Advertising”, but it's nice and clean and we do what we can with what we have!! heehee!!

(If you want to know why I covered the licence plate, "I have no idea!" heehee!!, but whenever a picture is taken of a car or truck I see that they blurred out the plate....so, I figure they must know what they are doing...so I'm just follow in suit! heehee!)

Keep It Up!

PS I’m about half way through this book called, “2012 An Ancient Look at a Critical Time” and I figure that the only people that will survive things in 2012 will be us “Kiters”! We’ll have it all to ourselves!! heehee!! Think about it...an ongoing kite festival...with free motels and food! “Heaven on Earth!!” heehee!!

I'm Baaaack!

Now let's see.. How many members? And how many of us pass or get passed to a greater extent than normal. (My wife says I drive like an old lady, so maybe I get passed a few extra times, too.) Need some data here.

Maybe it's time to put a few bumper-stickers into the mix at CafePress. (Does Kitelife have things at CafePress? I think iQuad does, but Kitelife?) YES!

Get your Kitelife bumper-stickers here!

Remember - if you GET passed a lot, put the sticker on the left side of the bumper; if you PASS a lot, put the sticker on the right. (US and right-driving countries only. Reverse this in UK, Japan and the like.)

If you are a serious road-hog and traffic gets stuck behind you for miles and miles, put it right in the center!
