tkrinor
I don't know If i would buy colored line if available, mostly just curious. I use LPG and fly on Sundays, Of course Mon-thru Sat has decent boring weather, then come Sunday we get fog, ice storms, snow, more fog with rain, more rain with about everything except sunshine. I was in sleet last Sunday and could not see my lines at all so I was curious if colored line was available and has anyone ever used it? SkyPuppets LimitVoodoo
Good morning tkrinor, The only line I know of that's readily available and comes in a color is Shanti SkyBond, comes in a yellow color. Hopefully you hear some more suggestions.
Wayne Dowler
Yep - Skybond comes to mind as the only one being offered now! Used to be "Berry Blue" too, but that company is no longer, that I know of! Still some places have some in stock, but supply is dwindling!! See the lines?? Don't need to see 'em to know there's a kite on the end of them!! lol!
Reef Runner
Kent at "A Wind of Change" [ http://www.awindofchange.com/category/bulkline.html ], seems to have the Shanti Skybond (yellow), in bulk, and also in ready made sets. Also has some colored sleeving (black & white) If anyone is interested in bridle line, Goodwinds [ https://goodwinds.com/line-winders/bridle-line.html ] has a pretty decent supply, in assorted sizes (100#, 140# & 200#) and colors. I use the 100# for making Rev bridles. I like to mix colors on the vertical & horizontal components of the bridle, just for the heck of it. Also good for sleeving, once you remove the core line (several colors available)............ Back to flight line, might try Wind Power Sports [ http://www.windpowersports.com/accessories/line/quad-line-sets.php ]. They seem to have a bit of selection, including Berry Blue & Shanti Skybond, apparently in both dual & quad sets. I too have had times, when white line was hard to see, but just as many time, when the blue line was likewise, just as hard to see. They both have their advantages and disadvantages, just like everything else.........probably just one of those personal preference things. I do like the looks of that Shanti Skybond (yellow). Anyone got any experience with that on quads ?
Hadge
Climax kite lines are available in Yellow ( professional) and Orange ( Protec). Good lines but I don't know about availability your side of the pond.
Amexpmh
I have line sets with both LPG and Skybond. The skybond slips better and a LPG is stiffer and does not stretch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
RevRookie
I was flying today with the Sting lines on the Rev with the new Magic sticks. The flexfoil line set has red and blue top lines that stand out nicely on the snow. The brake lines though are white and that made it tough to see wraps and twists. There was 0-5 kph winds - next to nothing - and if I hadn't been reading what all of you manage to do, I wouldn't have bothered going out. But your stories and Paul's claims about the magic sticks and low winds made me want to see what the fuss is about. It was truly amazing to me! The kite was finding wind that I couldn't even feel. None of the flights were long, and my over controlling was obvious in that light air, but I was in control about 75% of the time and that's a new record for this newbie! I also think that the time on the soft Sting has lightened my touch and helped with the quad line thinking. It's nice to be going UP the learning curve. dragonfish
Don't have a quad line set of Skybond, but I do have a dual line set. The yellow color seems very bright a lot of the time, but I have also found times when they were hard to see (don't remember the situations though). Just like most of the time I can see my white LPG lines, but in some cases they are hard to see (like today as the sun was starting to go down and the sky was completely white). I can't really give a comparison between Skybond and LPG though because my Skybond set is 175# dual line and my LPG sets are 90# quad line (and different lengths too). I have also seen a red(ish) colored line. Don't remember what it is called, but it's unfortunately probably discontinued as well. Random tidbit...once I was flying with some other people and there were red lines, white lines, and blue lines all being used in the group. SkyPuppets LimitVoodoo
Oh if you buy Prism branded line, the 50# dualie set comes with one red colored line, one blue.
SparkieRob
Oh if you buy Prism branded line, the 50# dualie set comes with one red colored line, one blue. Pretty sure that's the Modulus set, standard stuff is white.

You're exactly right Rob, it is their Modulus set. And its made for them by LPG... Odd that LPG doesn't offer colored line.
SparkieRob
Pink would be great for night use.

RobB
I got these Vector lines from Sport Kite Designs in Sweden. They were originally almost a bright orange, but the sun faded them to a pinkish color. Could I see them better ? Sometimes... I also have Skybond lines ( yellow), Berry Blue (blue), and LPG (white). Sometimes you can see the colored lines easier, but most of the time, it's all the same. Sometimes it's just hard to see the lines, no matter what color they are...
John Barresi
I don't suggest Berry Blue if you plan on flying with others... Works okay solo, but I've sworn off Blue Line after too damned many cuts during team flying. The new yellow stuff from Shanti seems to mix okay with spectra line sets and although I find it a little springy, some folks seem to like it. LPG is the bomb, very little bounce and a lower thread count (equates to less dust/dirt/moisture accumulation), been my #1 choice for years now.
