Hi,

I have booked to stay in my campervan at my usual campsite in Blackpool, just a couple of miles away from where we will be flying.   I hope to cycle to and from the clinic each day (though I have yet to try carrying my kite bag while cycling)

Caroline is staying at another campsite in Blackpool.  Not sure about anyone else.   It would definitely be good to meet up with other kite fliers for a bit of chill time.

Update from @Josh.Mitcheson:

So guys, I've been meaning to post this for a while now. Another great opportunity for you guys. We have a basketball court booked from 6:30pm - 9:30pm on Thursday 31st of August for all you guys keen to have a go at indoor flying! The location is only five minutes drive from the beach and big enough for all of us to enjoy. Myself and John Barresi will be on hand to give advice and tutorials on your indoor flying. I will post more information very soon. There will be a small fee of £5 each to cover the cost of the court. Your also welcome to fly any indoor kites you have. There may also be a music system for some indoor demos if anyone would like to take to the stage!

See you guys all very soon!!!!

I'd love to try indoor flying. Never done it before. But I haven't got an indoor rev.

@John Barresi: is it possible to rent one of yours? Would really like to give it a try

Hi, great to see you've got 19 signed up. Does that mean there is a place left or are you running a reserve list at all? Booking site says there are no places left:( .

Hi Dave, sorry to say that 20th spot is already gone I just failed to update that info here.

Physically pains me to say it too, I fully empathize with the plight of any passionate flier. :)

Absolutely, would still love to let you pick my brain during the festival, albeit a bit more casually... Don't be shy in any case. ;)

In the meantime, can't go wrong with the video tutorials!

Most definitely, our only goal is to share the space and be sure folks have a great chance to learn new stuff. :D

Anything with two strings is welcome including foils, stacks with tails and delta stunt kites - the purpose of this workshop is first and foremost to help you maximize the kites you have, and the way you like to fly... During the weekend, we'll cover a whole range of dual line topics that interrelate.

Starting this topic to assemble a fairly comprehensive list of all the video tutorial resources available online related to 2 string / dual line / stunt kite / sport kite flying... The list below is somewhat categorized by variety of knowledge, ideally getting more robust and eventually more complex as you work your way through.
Kite Loft - Fundamentals as taught by kite store staff.
Hosted by MonkeySee.com Dodd Gross - Fundamental and freestyle trick tutorials.
Dodd's YouTube channel DVD - Flight School (no link) DVD - Flight School II (no link) DVD - Flight School III (no link) DVD - Flight School IV: More Tricks (YouTube) Prism Kites - Fundamental and freestyle trick tutorials.
The Way To Fly Advanced Way to Fly Misc tutorials (YouTube) Reed Design - Animated practice / competition maneuvers (flight paths).
International Rule Book (IRBC) for team, pairs and individual Stunt Team Competitive Kiting (STACK) for team, pairs and individuals Randy Greenway (aka RandyG) - Freestyle trick tutorials.
Archive on Kite Clique RandyG on Vimeo Mama74 - Freestyle trick tutorials and studies (repeated examples).
      Mama74 on YouTube Rob Randolph
Comete tutorial (YouTube) allkabi - 3D animations of trick maneuvers.
Fractured Axel (YouTube) Flap Jack (YouTube) Roll Up, Half Lazy, Unroll to Fade (YouTube) Trick Sequence 1 (YouTube) And some added info (non-tutorial)
Trick List (not complete) I'll likely reorganize as time goes on, but please feel free to add anything you've found in a reply and I'll add it to this lead post if I think it fits into what I want to end up with, otherwise it'll stay part of the discussion here - thanks!

Yes indeed, "borrow JB for a Weekend" will be drawn on May 15th, 2018...

YOURS TO WIN: All-day access for THREE FULL DAYS to pick my brain, learn and play, solo or team, dual or quad, indoor or outdoor, water flying, urban kiting, dogstake, competition skills, you name it, hang out, name anything (legal and platonic) that we can fit into three days and I'd genuinely love to participate with you.

      TERMS:
I will quite literally be somebody's (or a group's) private instructor, kite bag boy, workshop presenter, team trainer or simple arm candy for all three days, the winner can share me around with other local fliers, your team, a club, or just keep the fun all to themselves. I will cover my own flight to meet with the winner at any major International airport in the Continental USA (using Star Alliance air miles) on a mutually agreed date (any season), but no sooner than 21 days after the drawing. Winner provides basic lodging (couch or floorspace is acceptable) and local transportation for duration of the agreed visit, as it relates to the airport (pick up / drop off), kite flying and sleeping arrangements. Entry into this drawing is $10 per ticket with no limit to the number you can buy, all ticket numbers will be issued to the buyer via email (no refunds). Drawing will be held on May 15th, 2018 using RANDOM.ORG's 3RD PARTY DRAW SERVICE.
Main terms apply to mainland US entrants only (takes lots more air miles to go abroad), unless a non-contiguous US or International (or Hawaii, Guam, overseas, etc) participant is willing to cover the airfare under the same terms otherwise. NOTE: If you are near the US border in Canada or Mexico, we can also arrange for the major US airport nearest to you and do a pick-up / ride-across arrangement from there as long as those local arrangements are made by the winner. By purchasing tickets, you acknowledge full understanding of all the terms above.
NOTE: Tickets can NOT be ordered via TapaTalk or the KiteLife App, please visit the link below using a web browser (mobile or desktop).

Join us for two very full days of quad instruction on the beautiful shores of St Annes Beach in Lytham St Annes U.K. on Aug 30-31, 2018 immediately before the St Annes International Kite Festival!
Instructors will be John Barresi (www.johnbarresi.com) and Josh Mitcheson.

      DAY ONE - AUG 30
Quad 101: We'll be covering everything from absolute basics (pure beginner) all the way up through advanced techniques as well as the "weird stuff" like dogstake, short line catch and throw or any other quad line flight styles that may be of interest to the students, this first day is primarily focused on a full range of individual skills.

      DAY TWO - AUG 31
Team Flying: Actually easier than it looks, team flying is proven to help your skills along much quicker while having a ton of fun at the same time in a very forgiving social environment - after having done 100+ clinics, it's very very rare that fliers didn't find a fair measure of success on the line with others - come on, pave the way for participating in a mega fly at your next event.

Ideal choice of equipment for this class is any model of Djinn, Revolution 1.5 (includes EXP, SLE, B-Series, printed specials, etc) or similar "1.5 platform" models (like Phoenix, Freilein, Polo, etc), designs like Fulcrum are also welcome - we'll go through painless equipment set up, good tuning and all aspects of flight - this clinic is not brand-centric, the goal here is to demystify quad flying and set you up to win at your own game.

If you want to be able to try team flying, 40 metre / 120 ft lines (Spectra or Skybond material) are strongly suggested as the international team standard.

Registration is $135 (approx £100) per person and includes full access to the clinic on both days (Thu 10a-4p / Fri 10a-3p)... Please note, there are ONLY 20 SPOTS available and we expect them to fill up very quickly.
      RSVP'd:
@Flintfootfilly (Sarah) @FlyingHigh (Gavin) @Simon Cooper @Steve SLF Caroline S. @Neil Lover @GRAHAM MARSHALL @Ferrit (Peter) @Mickp14 (Mick) @Stephen Sunderland @JWharton ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? If you're coming, we start the "Quad 101" portion of this class at 10AM SHARP on Thursday morning... It's jam packed with invaluable information and first time attendees are encouraged to consider attendance mandatory, lots of little details that add dimension to your set up and flight experience.

There will also be an add on indoor clinic on Wednesday Aug 29 from 4:30p to 9:30p, registration is $30 (15 spaces available) and covers 5 HOURS of indoor access and instruction.

If you want some homework, you might also check out the tutorials available on KiteLife at http://learnkites.com/ and Kite Forge at http://kiteforge.com/help, can’t be too prepared!
