UK Quad Clinic (Aug 31-Sep 1, 2017)

Recommended Posts

A clinic with JB will not only improve your skill set, it will change the way you think about kiting as a whole..

As would winning JB for a weekend. Changed the way I fly and look at flying. Fly with intent.

I was going to do a write up of the clinic and Saint Anne's kite festival, but I cannot put into words how amazing it all was.
I personally feel it has enriched my life and not just the kiting side, I have taken so much away with me, and so the journey carries on
If anyone has thought about doing a clinic but not done it, just do it! you won't regret it
Much love Jeremy.

I couldn't have put it better myself mate.  Big Hugs to all.

@Makatakam.

Hi there Makatakam.  Errrm... Yes! :D

And so did this seagull which was hanging around listening to John B. for ages.  It found his explanation of the stitching on the trailing edge absolutely fascinating and even took a step nearer to listen in.

Finally back in Paris, unwinding...

All of you are simply wonderful!

Believe it or not, I'm actually a somewhat shy introvert when I'm not "hands on" with a subject and I always go through all kinds of nervous mental behavior leading up to a clinic, even after having done around a hundred clinics to date.

What I found Thursday morning were a whole lot of keen, hungry fliers with great energy that not only stimulated me into a great flow state, but you all made tremendous use of the information that tumbled out - quite evident over the four days (clinic and festival).

I'm sure you realize now, the clinics aren't about me or what I have to teach - they're all about the pure, unbiased information that enables each of us to express ourselves competently with the kites of our choice. :)

Well done! :clap;

It has been a pleasure to have met all of you and it has been fantastic.
A quote that I like a lot, and follow me around:

The best things in life, are the people we love.... the places we ´ve been...and the memories we´ve made along the way!

Josh, John - Thank you for a very good and learning rich clinic. And St. anna on the sea - thanks for a lovely kite festival.
It will not be the last time the Vikings well visit St anna.

As an aside for those who stayed for the festival too, please consider visiting their event Facebook page to leave a review - all positive feedback there weighs in toward local support next year! ;)

Join us for two full days of quad instruction with 31-time US champion John Barresi in Long Beach WA on June 15-16, 2019...
This is the workshop for folks who want to build up their solo skills and the very basics of team flying!
We'll be covering everything from absolute basics (pure beginner) all the way up through advanced techniques and team flying, as well as providing short flight routines that are sure to help your skills along while having fun at the same time.
Saturday morning is always a group presentation, full 101 on the ins and outs of Rev equipment and related theory, this covers a metric ton of stuff that even the "pros" think they know, but don't... From there, we usually go through the fundamentals of clean launching, landing and control methods... Students then break up onto their own kites to work on the "homework" (maneuver combinations) that I'll distribute beforehand, during which instructor(s) will make the rounds between each flier, offering supporting instruction, as well as addressing individual interests.
Sunday is the same without a 101 presentation, followed by a couple hours (or more) of team skills introduction to close out the day. Students will use their own kites, any line length will work (80'-90' is very common) but 120' length will be required for team exercises. Must be spectra or Skybond lines for team flying.

Registration is $150 per person and includes full access to the clinic on both days (10a-4p), discounted to $125 for KiteLife subscribers...

Please note, there are only 12 spots available and we expect them to fill up very quickly.
If you need any equipment prior to the event, we encourage you to check out our long time NW supporter The Kite Shoppe for a full variety of Rev kites and parts.

Join us for two very full days of quad instruction on the beautiful shores of St Annes Beach in Lytham St Annes U.K. on Aug 30-31, 2018 immediately before the St Annes International Kite Festival!
Instructors will be John Barresi (www.johnbarresi.com) and Josh Mitcheson.

      DAY ONE - AUG 30
Quad 101: We'll be covering everything from absolute basics (pure beginner) all the way up through advanced techniques as well as the "weird stuff" like dogstake, short line catch and throw or any other quad line flight styles that may be of interest to the students, this first day is primarily focused on a full range of individual skills.

      DAY TWO - AUG 31
Team Flying: Actually easier than it looks, team flying is proven to help your skills along much quicker while having a ton of fun at the same time in a very forgiving social environment - after having done 100+ clinics, it's very very rare that fliers didn't find a fair measure of success on the line with others - come on, pave the way for participating in a mega fly at your next event.

Ideal choice of equipment for this class is any model of Djinn, Revolution 1.5 (includes EXP, SLE, B-Series, printed specials, etc) or similar "1.5 platform" models (like Phoenix, Freilein, Polo, etc), designs like Fulcrum are also welcome - we'll go through painless equipment set up, good tuning and all aspects of flight - this clinic is not brand-centric, the goal here is to demystify quad flying and set you up to win at your own game.

If you want to be able to try team flying, 40 metre / 120 ft lines (Spectra or Skybond material) are strongly suggested as the international team standard.

Registration is $135 (approx £100) per person and includes full access to the clinic on both days (Thu 10a-4p / Fri 10a-3p)... Please note, there are ONLY 20 SPOTS available and we expect them to fill up very quickly.
