Happy Holidays and welcome to yet another issue of Kitelife – what a long, strange year it’s been! I’ve never been busier in my entire life with my recent involvement in the AKA Sport Kite Committee, the IRBC and training my sport kite team (TKS Mid-Air) for our first season in Masters Class, quite challenging… But I’ve also never had more fun and am very much looking forward to what 2006 has to offer.
You should be pleased to see that we’ve recently upgraded our forum software, both streamlining it and adding more handy features for our users… Most importantly, the new photo gallery! Regular members can upload up to 5MB, and official Kitelife Subscribers can upload up to 100MB in exchange for their support.
Our archival of the entire Kite Lines collection continues, with four more issues having been added on November 1st… The addition of Volume 5 brings us up to 20 issues republished in PDF, which we are currently in the process of bookmarking so that you’ll be able to click on an article title in the table of contents and be taken right to it, as opposed to scrolling through page by page in search of what you want.
Not every issue has been bookmarked yet, but we expect to have them all done within the next month or so… Then, we’ll move on to the SKQ archivesand do the same.
It’s nearly time for us to start our 2006 Kitelife Tour, starting in St Augustine FL with the SASKC… This will mark the beginning of our busiest season ever, as we attempt to visit and interact with as many clubs, events and fliers as possible.
It seems to me that the theme for this coming year is growth, on a grassroots level… There is an increasing amount of interest in small-budget, “home grown” festivals and competitions around the country, and we’ll be doing what we can to help.
