This has been a truly amazing festival, and I’m sorry to say that this is the last day… However, despite continuing rain this morning there were more than a few dedicated fliers out at the beach!

As we were preparing to leaver there were a couple of single lines and stunters braving the weather, including Ray Bethell who is the latest inductee to the World Kite Museum’s Hall of Fame… And also the first sport kite flier to ever be inducted!

In classic Ray style, he was out in the inclement weather flying his heart out on three Canadian maple leaf Pizazzes… We’ve known each other since 1990, and “big daddy” never ceases to amaze me.

It’s not just his flying, but his sense of being… His effect on those watching is quite profound, drawing people of all ages to come up and say hi!

I want to share my gratitude and warmest congratulations to Ray, we deeply appreciate his work as an ambassador for kiting worldwide.

Our server did go down on Wednesday, and I cannot apologize enough for the lapse in coverage for all of you who have been stopping by to check it out.

This is not something we expect to occur in the future, and you can count on us adding more events to the daily updates schedule as time goes on.

Don’t forget to check out the full WSIKF report and photos, which will be released around October 1st!

On my way home,

John Barresi
