I have a 12-stack of Hyperkites (Plus size) and do the same thing, works really well. :)

Pretty sure someone in KiteLife chat mentioned it.  I used to wrap each tail on a thin board the width of the tail & about six inches long.  It was a bit tedious but did make the tails nice & flat for the next flight.
