  1. I have carried stakes in my pocket but worry about exactly that, tripping in sand or obstacle in sand. With the sheath attached to a carabiner it will swing and not be in my way. Thinking of stopping at local fabric shop and looking for 2-3" nylon strap and having my wife sew the sheath.
  2. I really am leaning to the box delta, it's different and not something I have in the collection. @RobB That Barbara Meyer Double Box is a beauty and the tails just add to it!
  3. I was at kite shop yesterday and came across this 12' box delta. I am deciding between the 11' delta with No Box versus this one. Does one have more lift than other or fly in better or different conditions?
  4. Decided to give a DIY project a go. I took a tent stake, golf ball and drill and went to town! Took a bit of trial and error but after first ball... Three great stakes! I just need to find (or make) belt holsters for them.
  5. They have arrived all 12 of them and they are absolutely AWESOME!
  6. I got some surveyors tape in orange for tails and for line markers. Let’s see how it works out! Island Life | UFUV | Kite Life Subscriber 1482
  7. Thankyou for your insight@riffclown [emoji1303] Island Life | UFUV | Kite Life Subscriber 1482
  8. I’ll head over to website and look at those options. What length would you recommend Max length for the small kite? Looking at plastic vs. ripstop and tube vs. streamer. Island Life | UFUV | Kite Life Subscriber 1482
  9. I am considering purchasing a new tail for my New Tech Kites Detonator (beginner kite) 54.5 x 28.5 in (138 x 72 cm). When I purchased it it has a plastic tail but that’s long long long gone. I have a 20’ & 75’ Prism tube tail and also a 50’ Into The Wind plastic tube tail. What I’m considering is a rip stop streamer tail (length???) for less drag. 10. Yes! excited to change them out. They are the blue plastic bigger ones (hold up to 500 lb line).
  11. @Kansas Flier We travel with 2 large duffle bags for kites and laundry. I have seen the extension cord reels and am saving that winder for the 81 Sled with 1100-1200 lb. line(future buy). After some research on the Carey I, it states that it winds over 1 foot per turn. I on average run with 250' per winder. I am attaching a picture of my set-up in sand. I went ahead and ordered the Carey I winders from my local shop and will changing them out. SAND: 15" stake attached to 550 paracord for bigger kites (100-500 lb. line) SAND: 10" stake attached to 550 paracord for smaller kites ( 1-100 lb. line) GROUND: I am having ground stakes made land: 1/2 rebar at 19" with T handle
  12. They are similar in design to wooden.
  13. I have decided to replace my Yo Yo Winders with Carey I winders for my sleds. I currently have 2 of the Carey III Winders (Clarks' Crystal and 11' Delta) and they work really well. I do walk all my sleds down with a carabiner and am looking for quick line retrieval. Moving towards being more efficient with takedown time as per we usually have 6-9 sleds on beach at the same time.
  14. Great advice @mystainedskin I'll keep an eye out for that, I fly the sleds very consist (about every two weeks). Had the new one out today just brought it down about an hour ago.
  15. Went to B&S today and brought in the Zodarion for a checkup .. All good to go after some adjustments (Kite is over ten years old)! Looked at the Magnum and walked out with another 36 Sled (yeah it's an with addiction). I'w working my way into the Magnum...
