SIlver fox 2.3 UL question

CAN SOMEONE ANSWER THIS QUESTION IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS.

THE UPPER AND LOWER LEADING EDGE SPARS ON THIS KITE ARE THE SAME DIAMETER

THERE FOR THEY DO NOT MATE SO YOU DO NOT HAVE A FIRM LEADING EDGE IT HAS SOME BEND AND THE SPARS COULD CONCIEVABLE PASS ONE ANOTHER IN THE LADING EDGE SLEEVE.

HOW IS THAT SUPPOSED TO WORK?

There should be a ferrule, so the two ends can be joined where they meet inside the leading egde pocket.

In 'most' kites, it would be a solid .240 x 4" carbon, glued 2" into the upper leading edge tube. But I seem to remember something funky the last time I tore into one of those.

Your ferrule may have come unglued and slipped. :)

You may be able to remove the upper leading edge and 'plunge' a smaller diameter stick thru it, and force the ferrule out and re glue it.

Yup, as Theresa has posted, your Ferule has probably come lose and then was shoved all the way into the upper leading edge.

Problem is that the Silver Fox has multiple do-hinkeys on it (c-clips) which make it impossible to get the upper and lower leading edges out of the kite without taking one of them off. They are glued onto the spar, so you have to carefully break the do-hinkey loose from the spar so you can remove the rod. Once you get the rods out of the kite you can then use the method Theresa has posted to get the ferule out of the kite. Once you do that just simply re-glue the ferule back into the rod where it should be (so that half of the ferule is sticking out the bottom). Then insert the rods back into the kite, re-glue the do-hinkey's back on and your done.

As long as your rods are not broken or split, the repair will cost you nothing but some CA+ super glue and time. If your rods have been damaged, you will need to replace them at the same time.

Just a few shots last weekend on a short trip a few miles SE of Agate Pass near Poulsbo Wa. Great time flying there off the spit that provides so pretty awesome views of Seattle to the East and the Olympic Mts. to the west.

Had a good test flying session with my new heavy weight Silver Fox 2.5 UL.

Although the winds were waaaaaaaaaay on the lighter side....but Ohhhhhhhh soooooo smooth.

Although the Fox was noticable annoying slow, heavy handed (compared to that old reliable little light weight HQ Shadow nimble quickness and fast response) the saving grace of the Fox is how beautifully precise, and slowwwwwww it peforms fades, cascades, roll ups...

I just wish that my arms were about 6 feet longer and my bad knees were in better condition, since the FOX seems to need lots of PUSHIN-PULLIN and control input.

Perhaps too many sky miles on lighter, smaller or "3/4 quick responding sized kites" can really mess with your flying habits?
