I noticed the new high end stunters use a striaghter trailing edge, what kind of an advantage would that be , or is it just an apperance thing??

If the trailing edge gets as straight as those on the Viper, they make a LOT of noise in flight. Maybe it also affects the handling of the kite, too. <_>

Maybe the flapping slows the kite down and also provides cleaner corners?

The flapping also will stress the ripstop unless it strengthened with something else.
