Penny Lingenfelter Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 Hey you two, say kite art and your ok.. well maybe "kite art at WSIKF" My husband had to back out on me at the last minute. (refereeing a football game they forgot to tell him about) . which is fine.. I've been going to Long Beach by myself longer then I've been with him and it gives me a reason to want to go home. Karen Thompson had just mentioned that she would have gone w/me if Steve wasn't coming and we could have taken the camper.. So hey! I lost my husband and gained a camper Friday evening. But the guys thought we should wait till Sat. am to leave. We probably won't do that again! Since I came to WSIKF on Sat. morning I felt like I missed so much. And a little tired from 3 am in the morning.l I'm not use to those hours. I got to get a few hugs, give a few lessons and even got to buggy a little. the rain didn't slow us down to much. Except I had to quit flying to take someone their slicker back. hehehe Friends didn't even recognized me in the red slicker. I heard "Penny is that you under there?" a few times. Hey, it was wet but still blowing! Wish I had my gortex on, but the rain started after I walked up for lunch and my rain gear was on the beach. When I got to the beach Ron & Jennifer had carried my gear up the beach (thanks you two) and left me my kite to fly and put up at my leisure. Which I did. The rain storrrrrrmmmm was a great excuse to catch up on my sleep and a delicous nap in the camper was a treat. We wandered the town in the evening just to check out the kite stores... but 3 am just doesn't agree with me. Use to be we could dress in our "incentive dreses" and have a night on the town. ... now we sit around talk about those days. We found a driveway with some help from our friends and called it a night. I fell asleep pretty early.. which was good, it made for a nice Sunday. It was still raining in the morning, but by afternoon it was a gorgous Sunnyshiny day! Ron brought his buggy and I got to play a few minutes. Seemed like a lot of work between the lower winds, and soft sand, but I still felt like holloring "woo hoo"! Then a little fly time, a few lessons... and what did I spot? A murder of Rev's!!! (Hey if a row of birds is a murder... I think kites could be called a murder, too) I went over to find Dan Whitney, Dan Burningham, Aarron Champie, Steve Brown, ..... darn and someone I'm forgetting.... . Well, when I got home I had to tell Steve (my sweetie) That the guys had said they were glad he wasn't there.... And did we all want a cigarette?.. It was fun flying! Just that fun! On the ground I got to meet Boomer and hug Mousie and Connor. Qucik hug to the editor..... old friends, love it! We watched the fighter flyers come in and dance their kites like birds darting around in the sky. Got a few quick hello's in to the CA crowed. Lucky for them I couldn't remember where their house was or they might have gotten a late night visit. Oh, gosh... and I flew in the Mystery Ballet, not good, but I flew. heheh ... hmmmm bet I remember more later... I didnt' get my good visit in with Lolly, or kitebum Charlie, or whole bunches of people. Two days at WSIKF is simply not enough!! Still, better then nothing! So now.... Long Beach is over... which in my mind means summer is over. And it's been pretty cloudy here in WA every since... but that's ok... cause we have Indian Summers in WA. Which is a good thing.. My Sept. -Oct is pretty full of kite events still! Woo Hoo! I still feel like holloring! We'll see you on the beach or inside this winter!! Remember-we need more indoor flyers! Try it, you will be amazed how much fun it is. Indoor at WSIKF... ewwww I missed that too. So much to fly, so little time. But you get the picture. Next year! BB Penny Quote
