Kites to Kids

I mentioned before that sometimes I give kites out to kids I see sometimes. The best kite I found for this are the Gayla Deltas. Anyone, even a child, can fly them...and they really fly great. I sometimes find them for sale on eBay. The last batch I bought I got for about a buck a piece.

I suppose when one gets older (not as old as Hedgewarden---just older) it is worth a buck or 2 to see that you were responsible for that smile on a kids face. Yeah...it's a very selfish thing! heehee!!

I was at Treasure Island (TISKC) and had about 2 dozen of them. When I'd see a little kid with parents...I'd run over and give them a kite and run away back to mine. One family came up to me later and they were all beaming with delight. They said they just wanted to thank me, because this was her first kite!! A man also came over to me to thank me. He had a son about 7 or 8 and he said that he noticed that his son was getting bored lately and he didn't know what to do about it and he thinks their going to take up kitting now. Like I said...I'm very selfish and I get to feel really good about something simple I do!

I did notice that at the other end of the field there were some people selling kites. I wondered how they might feel about some guy giving kites away......but, that's not my problem, because I figured if I'm giving them away anyway, I might as well advertize too...so I write in big letters ""www.Kitelife.com"" across them! heehee!!
