I make soft kites, but this question is probably also pertinant to frame supported kites.

For the first time, I used the 'hole in the skin' method- with disapointing results. Even strengthened with adhesive ripstop. They ripped out quick a real pain to repair -especially in a foil.

So Im interested to see what the general consesus is. (Would also be handy to know if you have a preferred method for a particular type of kite)

use heavier fabric for reinforcement. mylar film and/or good size cordura.

Sewn in tabs! I've never figured out a method for poking a hole that didn't look like trouble waiting to happen.
