  1. $150 reward for my kites. And if you were one of the people on the beach that day who told me you saw the person with my kites, I'll pay $100 if you point out the person to me.
  2. Hi Folks, Last year at WSIKF I left a Rev mid-vent and a blue & teal Rev 2 in a Prism Zephyr case on the beach. The mystery ballet was about to start so I left field C and hurried over to Field A to get in on that. Later that night, the fireworks were happening about the time I realized I had left the kites on the beach. The next morning after checking lost-n-found, I was told by people on the beach that it was a "kite person" who picked it up. That was a relief. With all the preparations for the fireworks that had gone on, I was afraid one of the fireworks guys picked it up. Alas, no one could recall the name of the person. A picture of the Mid-Vent is attached and at this link: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/bD8QgvWWSVFqfuFEXkRuVfWwz6OKIAB7_--0LEpElcw?feat=directlink I would very much like to be returned to my kites. If you were the one who picked up my kites, please contact me. I'll be at WSIKF again this year. Dave Bradley
  3. I'll be around this weekend and this is the perfect excuse to avoid house and yard work. Dave
  4. Indoor flying fills the winter kite void for me. Looking forward to the Camas indoor event in November and Windless in January. Hangin with kite friends is good. Going sideways from time to time? --it happens. We endure it, learn, and move on to stuff that's more fulfilling. See ya on a field somewhere Jonez. Maybe some street flying? Dave
  5. Bill does a nice job flying it here: http://home.comcast.net/~kiteaddict/KiteVids.html Thor's Hammer show up on the kite swaps occassionally. Somebody out there has a nice looking blue one. Dave
  6. I owned one briefly. When I measured it, it was only ten feet, not twelve feet across as it was being advertised at the time. The manufacturer stated that it was 12' when laid flat. This is by no means a standard way of measuring sport kites. I decided not to fly it and sent it back for a refund. I paid shipping. I was never able to contact the manufacturer by phone. There was no physical address for the manufacturer at the time. The Thor's Hammer by Level One is a 13'-6" kite available from trusted dealers. For more on the Arbitrator see:

  8. How could I forget..... Leo Kottke!
  9. What I prefer to listen to: Stevie Ray Vaughn, Steve Miller, Pink Floyd, Santana, Dave Matthews, just about any blues or bluegrass For indoor flying: Etta James, Patsy Cline, KD Lang... soaring voices Now if I could just figure out how to fly to the up tempo music I prefer to listen to. Especially for competitions when the winds are light, bluegrass is just tough to coreograph to. Sound tracks seem to work best for competition. But I just don't walk around listening to them. Gotta figure something out... competion in two weeks. OTOH, SRV worked fine for the vented Sonic yesterday evening at Delta.
  10. Well I don't know the size or structure of the business but this appears to be the manufacturer or perhaps the manufacturer's sole rep who sells a large kite on ebay. I'm still working out a resolution to my deal. As soon as I do, I'll provide details. People have a right to know that they will not receive what is advertised. Other suppliers of large stunt kites, in direct competition, should know as well.
  11. I recently purchased a large stunt kite. When it arrived, I assembled it immediatley. The wingspan of the assembled kite is 2' shorter than advertised. The manufacturer said he was advertising the unassembled, flat, span. So, I assembled six of my other stunt kites to check the assembled wingspan against the advertised spans. They all matched. Apparently none of the four manufacturer's I checked use the unassembled, flat span in their advertising. I have seen flat spans used in describing foil kites but never for framed stunt kites. Is there any confusion in the industry about whether the advertised wingspan of a stunt kite should be the assembled wingspan instead of the unassembled span?
