  1. Hello all, I acquired a kite a few years ago, and have been trying to figure out how to put it together since I got it. So far I've had no luck. The kite is a Joel K Scholz Signature Series Delta; the 20' Raptor to be precise. It came with a bag of carbon rods, but they all seem to be different sizes. Do any of you happen to have plans, or a diagram that shows how to assemble one of these things? I'd love to put it together and see it up in the air. It looks beautiful. Thanks for any help! I appreciate your time. -Steve
  2. Ok yawll after much deliberation I am going to present this months Karma drawing. Unlike most of you I just recently got back into kiting so yes this karma is not going to be huge but I am so willing to give back I am giving away Half of my kite bag they will be a single line 4 meter octopus and a 2.5 meter dual line parafoil rainbow color. a kite stake, 3 sandbags, and a line winder. I hope there is something for everyone in this batch. Oh the reason for May 23 that's my birthday so a perfect day to give back. Also might give a bit more time for people to get involved. Good luck to all. Better and more images to follow. Some rules and guidelines: Don’t play unless you’re willing to put up a prize and ship it to whoever wins. Shipping is paid by the original poster, the winner pays nothing. Be prepared to ship your prize anywhere in the lower 48 US States. Sorry, but due to shipping costs, we really have to limit this to the lower 48 US States. RULE CHANGE (7/31/2014): Members from Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii are welcome to enter the Karma drawings provided they are willing to pay half of the Karma prize shipping cost. The method and timing of the payment will be agreed upon between the two parties after the drawing for a particular prize. You can choose the length of the giveaway, but keep it between 1 and 2 weeks. Try to ship the prize promptly. You should be able to ship it within a week, but if you can’t, PM the winner and let them know. Sometimes life gets in the way! This whole thing works on the honor system so if there are any problems shipping or receiving a prize, it needs to be worked out between the two parties. Don’t forget…Karma! This isn’t a competition, but feel free to be generous! If you can only put up a hat, or a tail for a stunt kite, great! If you have something in your kite bag that you never fly and would be willing to ship, that’s great too. Either way, the people that join to win it will appreciate it. When you receive your prize, post a thank you to the thread where you won it. The thread will be locked after that point so the new **KARMA** stays above it. Good luck, and have fun!
  3. I have scored a few kites here in China, including a series of Delta Kites. I'm all about flying with toys on the lines, lights (at night), balloons, pinwheels, line climbers, and streamers. Problem is none of the single kites have the strength to lift the light toys (a chain of lightweight plastic lightsaber toys) that I'm trying to get airborn on their own. The solution is to train some kites together. So, how do I do it? The kites are built, so I can't radically redesign them. Attaching the upper kite to the lower kite shouldn't be done at the lower kite's spars, as it will likely deform or break them. I don't want to have a lower kite attached to a separate line that is tied to the upper kite's line and possibly tangling them. I just want to chain them together... Like I've tried to indicate below. ---------\--------\------\ Any Ideas? Thanks! Jim

  5. Hello kite friends, I can't remember few days past I saw a dual-lines kite which can be flew as single line too. I guess it was a "Premier Kites" brand, but I'm not sure. Could you tell me what is this kite and a link to find it please ? Over this, what are the kites with this same ability, say what are the kites able to be single line as well as dual or even quad lines ? Thank you veru much for your help, Signed the poor "flying in the clouds" Guy

  8. Hello all, I have some problems with a new bought FlowForm single line kite : it turns in the sky and falls down on the ground by itself (and yes, if you ask for that, there was wind enough for the try ;-) ) I remember some time ago I seen a tip for FlowForm tuning on the web but alas I do not find it now... Any idea where I can find this stuff ? Thank you very much, Guy
  9. Up for grabs is a beautiful single line G-Kites Delta Conyne. I flew it one time for about an hour and it looks like brand new. This is a big kite, 8 feet wide and 3 1/2 feet tall. It would make a great starter kite for kids. Drawing will be held late night on Monday 9/30/2013. Good luck to all. 1 - Must be a resident of the US, Canada or Mexico. 2 - Post a reply below with a clear "I'm in!" 3 - If you win, return the favor by putting up a prize (any value) for someone else to win. I am willing to ship anywhere in North America, winner will need to specify shipping limits for their own drawing. Using the preferred RNG method, I'll be drawing a winner on September 30th. Numbers will be assigned in the order you announce your participation. 1 BBailey 49 2 mystaynedskin 3 Joespickles 4 makatakam 5 JustStuff 6 Reef Runner 7 Patggg

  12. Hello to all you fellow windjunkies, breeze beggars, and silkworm farmers, sewing fanatics, etc, etc, etc. -- . We invite all the Texas kite clubs to Rockport for a winter kite-a-pa-loza-- is that a word?? it is now!! This event was moved a couple of years ago because it gives a little more time between events i.e.- GTKCFF and SPI kite fest on February the first, and two it gives the City of Rockport a little extra color in the air for their annual "beginning of the season" celebration. They have asked for kite fliers the last three years of this event which includes street fairs, two parades, musical offerings outdoors, lighting of the big tree in the kite field, and in general a street party downtown. It also has more for us windjunkies to do to keep entertained after 5 pm when the sun goes down--- lighted boat parade, various drinking establishments, and music and street dancing!!! This occurs on December 3rd, 2011, at 10AM, Saturday, the City is renting the "Festival Grounds" just for us kite flyers which is the tri-cornered field at the front of the beach facing Hwy 35 -- so we should have lots of room for everyone's favorite kite to be displayed. As a special treat this year interested bird watchers can join a bunch of kiters on a Whooping Crane bird tour via the Wharf Cat, a tour leaves the Rockport Harbor on Sunday to view these magnificent animals in their natural habitats to the north of us. More info as to reservations, fees, times etc with be forthcoming. Further info inquiries can be made at 361-442-4608 -- also check out the Facebook page --Coastal Bend Skypirates, current info will be posted there i.e Friday nite meet/greet dinner etc . ---- Dano
