Chad
Curious if anyone has had any problems taking their kites as carry-on? We want to to travel as minimally as possible, but I’m thinking if I want to take three kites with me plus my different lines and especially stakes I may just take a larger bag and check it. Thanks, Chad
The 5piff
I've never had an issue with the TSA, they wanted to see the spars once but they've never taken anything
riffclown
Kites and lines no problem (Depending on size restrictions. Stakes will cause issues and should be checked (or buy a cheap screwdriver when you arrive) Quad Handles MAY bear further inspection due to the weapon-like shape.. Short version. Most things OK but check or leave the stake behind.
Chad
Thanks! I’m going to stop by the airport tomorrow and ask. We are trying to travel light. Don’t want any surprises at 0430… Chad
edub
using a OSK rollup bag - I have no issues with carry on using Alaska and United you will have to remember to pack your ground stake in a checked bag or go with a sand bag style bag otherwise.
