John Wells Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 After your new lines stretch, and if one gets longer than you desire, how do you shorten it? I'm assuming that you tie knots at the handle end to take up the extra? Also, the lines at the handle end of one set aren't sleeved. Should they be, and are there sleeving supplies and needles available at a fabric shop etc? Thanks, JW Quote
John Barresi Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 Hi John, a couple of related posts on the Rev forum that may apply... http://www.revkites.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=550 http://www.revkites.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=456 These will apply to either dual or quad line. Quote
John Wells Posted August 20, 2007 Author Report Posted August 20, 2007 I flew in 7-15 mph or so winds today and practiced stalls and back flips with a new jam. At some point, I noticed that one line stretched (I think?) about 3 inches. I'm not sure what to make of that much stretch? I really don't know what's normal though. I adjusted the long one and kept flying. JW Quote
John Barresi Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 It's normal for lines to stretch the first few times out, they should settle in after a few more flights. Quote
ilh Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 At least during the initial stretch out phase, switch lines around from side to side (and top to bottom on quad). It can help the stretch even out. Sleeving is optional. Some people like it, some not. Some think it is extra work, some not. I prefer sleeving for its ease in handling, in particular loosening larksheads. Was this a used set of lines? If so, it sounds like someone cut them down and went without sleeving on the cut end. Strange. Quote
