Having just watch the B-Series DVD that came with my kite it shows and explains them. The look like en elongated lead weight like you would use for fishing and are small enough to fit in the verticals of a rev kite. They are attached to a 6" or so line so you put them in, let the line hang over and then put the cap back on. The weight goes on the bottom and according to John makes it so you can do axels and stuff easier.

Of course John makes it look easy in the video, just like launching his kite out of water, going into the water straight down flipping it 180 degrees completely under water and then launching the other way.

I have noticed a bit with John he likes the theatrical aspect of kiting, maybe it's why he's so good!

I have seen Penny a couple of times too. She seems to have that theatrical side too.
