Hi,

Does anyone have any experience with "clip on" yoyo stoppers.

Now that I have a "little bit" of experience with tricking, my Quantums are able to do some stuff they couldn't do before :confused!: and I was thinking of putting some of those clip on yoyo stoppers on them.

What are any of your experiences with them?

I have HQ clip on yoyo stoppers on most of my kites and they are generally OK but they can pop off if you have a heavy landing. I put a small piece of electricians tape just above and below the stopper and this seems to keep them in place...or you can paint them bright orange! They are pretty cheap so it's probably best to buy a few spares. Just make sure you have the right size and they fit on snugly.

TOP TIP! cheap adjustable weight system!

1/ Get a yoyo stopper the same size or one size smaller than the kite spine.

2/ Tap an M6 thread on the stopper with a tap & die set or an old M6 nut

3/ Get a few suitable washers with a 6mm hole.

4/ Clip the stopper to the spine, put on washers as needed, put an M6 nut on the end.

The weight can be very finely adjusted for weight and can be slid up and down the spine as needed!

Works great .....My idea!!!

Thanks "Hadge",

I'll pick up some of those HQ clip-ons and give them a try.

As for the weight system...I'm glad I have weights that attach to the spine of my kites, because I have no idea what a "M6" is and I have never tapped anything, except a keg!!:)

Thanks again,

Thanks "JoneZ",

But, as usual, Kitelife has "been there and done that!" I found the post online:

I wonder if you'all get tired of answering the same questions everytime a newbe comes on board!!

hehe, no problem m8. Nonetheless heres a couple visual aids to go along with that description.

I cut the tips off at about half way, just to streamline it a bit. You can also plug the holes with the material you cut off, so you don't get them stuffed with mud n dirt.

Hows the cold weather out there?

Thanks Jon-EZ,

Good pics., you should get a job with National Geographics or Playboy, maybe...(hope Mary Beth doesn't read these posts!):)

Thanks for your help! I'm going to give that and some other stuff a "go" soon, but right now I'm to busy FLYING!! (and too tired when finished) :kid_drool:

I had a great day flying today...73' w/ wind running around 7 to 10 mph from the south (Which is great because then the sun is at my back. As a result of the south wind I skipped the sun lotion.......mistake........it still got me, I'm a bit red faced (without emptying the cooler!) :)
