  1. Thanks guys and as riffclown pointed out, I am very much a " self proclaimed newbie"!! I will stick with what I currently have and learn to fly it and then decide what I want to do. Djinn...................🤔 I think I likely misunderstood what makatakam wrote. And thank-you Paul for the info on the french bridle. That would take some time and patience!!
  2. Oh, I won't be giving up anytime soon. I just need some wind so that I can get out and torture, I mean have some fun!! I will take a look at the Djinn bridle. I'm curious if the one they sell here on KiteLife is the same as the one you are referring to. Thanks for the heads up!!

    TICA 2020

How cool to have an area to fly in your back yard and you are right, I need to head out to Antelope Island and fly there. It is a bit of a drive, but might be worth it!! So I ordered a Wolf NG today and submitted my request to Santa Claus for a red STD TICA. You should have seen the look in Santa Claus's eyes when she saw the price😲 Oh well, it's worth a try!! Now if I could just get some wind a blowin.
  4. Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing an inexpensive upgrade. I am brand new to quads and I will admit, I am having a hard time getting it off the ground. I have watched John B's tutorial several times, but I'm doing something wrong. Seems it should be a little easier. Thanks again.

    TICA 2020

Your funny and I enjoy reading your posts!! And I mean that respectfully!! Right now I am just sitting here wishing that the wind would pick up a bit so I could get out and try flying. Perhaps in another hour or so. I have not even pulled the Widow NG out of it's bag yet as I have been playing with the hydra, but suppose I should just to see what it is like. If I were to get a Wolf NG, it would be from Jon T at kites and fun things since they seem to have the best price on the kite. But then you mention the addiction, so I will give it a bit of thought since I will only get one right now and I leaning towards the Wolf. Perhaps I can drop a hint to the wife regarding a TICA for Christmas. And I know what you are saying, if she knew how many I have recently purchased, I could possibly be sleeping with them😉 I don't really have that many, but several new ones in the last month or two. What part of the country do you fly in? I sure hope someone will scratch that itch!!
  6. I see in the shop-accessories section of this web site a listing for " Precision tied quad bridles " and am wondering if there is an advantage to installing these or is it just for if something happens to the bridle already installed? This may a real newbie question, but I'm curious. Thanks!!
  7. Looks like the new TICA 2020 is available on the kitesandfunthings.com web site. What are you thinking about this one? It is a big kite and very tempting!! I have spoke to Jon a couple of times regarding it and he seems very excited!! Just curious what you are thinking?
  8. Yes I will also wait to read a review or two on the TICA, but considering where it comes from, I would expect it to pretty nice. Likely be a little spendy, but whats money!! I have spoke to Jon a couple of times about it and he seems pretty excited. I need to get the Widoe NG out and see how it flies. Seems from what I have read, it will be a very good lower cost kite. Like I mentioned, when I got the hydra on it's back, I didn't know what to do next. I really need to watch some video's. I have seen you post several times about the Wolf NG. Since I have a quantum, is the Wolf NG more of the same or would it possibly compliment what I already have? That kite is currently, a good deal, @ kitesandfunthings. Am I supposed to mention prices here? Thanks.
  9. Thanks for the welcome John and let me introduce myself. It seems that the years have flown by and I am now 60 years old. I am a aircraft mechanic for Delta Air Lines and have been so for almost 30 years. The first kite I remember buying was a Prism Adrenaline, maybe 10 or 12 years ago in Newport if memory serves correctly. Have not flown it a lot, but several years ago I bought a Quantum. Wow, what a different kite and one I have really enjoyed flying. I am amazed to watch you guys and what you can do with these kites and would someday love to learn to do it also! This year my wife and I were able to spend some time at WSIKF and I kind of caught the fever again. I met and was able to spend a little time with John Barresi. What a cool guy, whom, to me appeared to be a genuinely friendly, helpful individual. He was very busy, but still took the time to speak and attempt to help little ol me!! Wife and I drove up to Ocean Shores and met Andy at his great kite shop. Another great guy whom I am glad to have met! While there I purchased a Freilein mid vent quad. And before I left town I also picked up one of his special addition Quantum’s just because it looked cool!! Since that time I have also purchased a Widow NG and a ITW Hydra and a Revolution 1.5 Classic. I have not flown the NG, but have had the Hydra out a bit. Yesterday I was flying it and somehow got it on its back. Cool, first trick! But the very next thought was, OH CRAP, what do I do now? Somehow it worked out! As for the quads, no bad crashes yet, but am finding them to be a very different beast, but I will get it. I’m sure it would be very beneficial to fly with someone who knows what they are doing! We try to head out to Cannon Beach whenever possible, but that is not nearly often enough. You who live by the beach are pretty lucky, at least in this aspect. Since I live in Salt Lake City, the wind is pretty much like you might expect for an inland city. At least from my experience, but I’m guessing others know better. Trying to decide what I want next or if I really need anything at this point. The new TICA2020 looks to be nice and is tempting! Anyway, I have rattled on for far too long here and have possibly put some of you in a coma. Sorry Thanks again for the welcome!
  10. You guys are great and I very much appreciate your responses! But as I look back on this thread I’m afraid I have high jacked KiteKouple’s post. Sorry! I will continue in another post
  11. Thanks for your thoughts dragonfish. Obviously from what you are sayin and considering my experience level, I would not want to fly the Kaiju on a long set of lines! Breezin, you make me chuckle and in a very good way! I always enjoy reading what you post😂. I am a little interested in the new TICA 2020 and I will take a look at the Lam you mentioned. You must have a very impressive collection of kites. We did have some ok wind yesterday and I was able to get my new hydra in the air for a bit. I did my first trick and got it on its backside🤔. But then I was like, oh no, what do I do know. It all worked out and it continued to fly!
  12. I completely understand what you are saying and since I am much closer to a beginner than anything else.......... well I’ll just leave it there😉 Thank you all for your thoughts!
  13. Thanks for the responses guys. Seems I may need to be looking at something else for this. My journey continues😉
  14. Yes I’m sure you are correct and this is likely the case with most of the low wind kites. Thanks guys!
  15. So can one fly this outside on 75’ lines? I know it is more of an indoor, short line kite, but I’m looking for a light wind kite I can use outside. Thanks for your thoughts! Thanks for the replies guys. Is there perhaps another option you might suggest?
  16. So I know this is a low wind, indoor kite, but I am wondering how it might do in low winds, outside on a longer line set. Say 75'. I live inland, Salt Lake City, and the winds are pretty unpredictable and since I am a fairly new flier, I would like something that I can fly when the wind is really down. Thanks for your thoughts!!
