Wonder how many happy birthday emails he will get. Would be interesting to know how many Birthday Kite cards he got though.
-
I think Sidsol is maybe trying to make the point that it has been a bit quiet on here for the last week. Only a couple of days till that nice kite from Ben gets posted to me here in the UK.
-
Looks a tidy job to me. Did it so quickly as well. If it flies as good as it looks it is a fine kite. Well done.
-
Anybody taking bets? Here is one Bear that is going to keep his head down with all this Dogstaking going on.
-
I am sure someone suggested swapping hands then flying like normal, rather than trying to reverse the thought process, sounds easy . Makes sense to me. Maybe try it one day when I am feeling particularly suicidal!! A guy near wher I work makes suits of medieval armour. Might try one out if I try dogstaking.

Getting closer to Bens Birthday.
-
Hector said Now that would be interesting, side by side dogstaking, would love to see that. Probelm being who would be the Wolf and who would be Red Riding Hood. (maybe Red Baron) Or of course, Wolf and Hunter.

Hi QK, et al. Understand your concerns. However if we look away from the obviously recognisable outline of a Rev beutiful, lovely, graceful and all the other words we might use to describe them. Look towards the soft foils, quad dual whatever. And I accept that there must be folk who can easily tell one from the other. They are ALL similar. Slightly tuned or trimed with different bridles but basicly similar. Obviously "Revolution" have put a LOT of effort into developing the kite we know today. In making the best quad line of its type many are going to copy its basic design if not exact measurements. So we will end up with similar shaped kites. I think that if one of my Revs ripped I would have a go at remaking the sail. I DEFINATLY think that making Rev shaped kites and selling them as Revolutions is a BIG no no, I have been caught out allready if you look at the start of this thread. I now have a kite that LOOKS a bit like a SuperSonic, it isnt one boo hoo, but it flies and the guy I bought it off says he THOUGHT it was a Rev (It did say it was a Revolution in the advert though) So my thoughts, Making a kite that is Rev shaped for yourself is probably OK. Repairing a Rev by making a sail is probably OK. Saying it is a Rev is a big NO NO. Selling it for profit is NO NO. Putting a Rev type LOGO on it is definaly NO. I would say maybe making it for somone else might be questionable. I suppose one question to ask is how patented or copyright is the shape. The general shape or the exact shape? Anyway those are my thoughts, I am open to being persuaded otherwise.

Sorry, dont forget to let go of the triplane before it carries you away. That Snoopy dog in the cockpit has a nasty glint in its eye
-
Love it Hector, you wont forget to let go will you?? Like the dog stake idea as well.
-
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many Revolutions it is making my head spin. Love the Black/white and orange/white ones. Red one just like mine. So got to get a few more to catch up with you. Hopefully have a B series on the way soon. Maybe a vented Rev 1 as well, not sure yet. Might have to wait till next month. Now can I wait that long???? Anyone know when the vented B will be available???????
-
Thanks QK. So do I count 3 sets of 4 stacks?? Shockwaves, Rev 2's and SLE????????????? Not too good at reading which is which, got some nice sails in there.
-
Well I think it is a little Monkey!!
-
Now you are going to make me want to build a sail!!
-
Oh yes, one concern. Will 90 lb lines be OK for the 3 stack Rev 2's?
-
Thanks for that Ben, it is so fantastic, the sense of community with Rev fliers. I am sure nurtured so much by the easy interaction with "Rev" itself and the obvious love and respect from both sides. I have recieved so much help on the different forums. I think I can officialy say I am an addict now. Got 5 proper Revs and a ripoff SuperSonic which I bought as a Rev so paid over the odds for it. Lolly recons she might have made my Rev 1 as it has the lined end caps which make it a bit of a veteran. Unfortunatly starting to show its age but still flies well. My Rev B order is about to go is as well. That is all in the space of about 12 months. Just wish the wind was better. Allways gusty here, that is when there is any!! My intention is to either make a Rev 2, Rev EXP, Rev 1 stack or more probably 3 Rev 2's. Am ordering the lines for it. I will definatly call for help if I need it. Hope you like MY card Ben. Dont forget to wear the badge on your birthday. Getting closer. Just a quick check, yep loads of room for the Birthday kite when it arrives. I LOVE all the masterpieces, but those Eye ones. FANTASTIC. Ps, Monkey, a little bird tells me you are expecting a new arrival. Pictures please, with the proud father of course.

Thanks for that. Just wondered about the lines showing up. Thought I might be able to join Ant in blinging it up
-
Look forward to seeing the picture Monkey. Can you actually see the stack lines from a distance? Would 4 foot be about right for a Rev2 stack? Regards, Chris.

LOL so much I nearly peeeed myself. The idea of John, no shouldnt even thinkof it. Like it Qk. But then maybe I dont like it. Not sure what to say. Not sure what I should say!!
-
Laundry, just let it stack up. If the wind is right it is too good to waste on drying clothes. You might wear the wind out. I have got another Rev2 to try out. Much more important than laundry. Rather buy new than miss the wind when it is right.

Thanks QK will have a look on the othere thread.

Bet the pair stack looked good Monkey. No problems an the trade embargo QK, we all have to make deals. My deal is if I want a kite I will buy it. Then I have to duck for a few days Can you drop me a line about my stack questions please. Specially the line strength, dont want to get the stack up then loose it that would be a shame. Your comments re price make me feel a bit better. Three Revs 2 of which are solid colours for around $490 not bad then.
-
Bet that is fun to fly. As you probably saw from my earlier pictures I have a solid Red as well. It looks pink in the photo but it is Red really. I have only just bought it and have not seen it "in the flesh" as yet. I am told it is perfect, will have it in a couple of days. I may LOVE it and not want to part with it. Sell it NO, swap it maybe. For a Rev B or one of those lovely Eye Revs!! Mabe even a nice 8 stack. Seriously may swap. Paid a lot for it, just a few cents off $200 US, I expect you could buy a new one for that. Rev kites are more expensive here for instance a SLE will cost you around $370US. Let me have a look at it and will get back in touch if you are really interested. Would like to ask you some stack questions but got to go to the dentist in a bit (you can imagine I would rather be flying). Hang on Dentist can wait. This is important!! 7 stack lines. Top and bottom spars, end and centre leading edge. Around 4 foot long? Bottom lines of rear kite may need shortening a bit. Fly the back kite not the front. Will 90lb lines be ok for a 3 stack? Will the standard leading edge be ok? Presume the stack will fly slower than a single with more pull. How much more pull, like a Rev 1 or more? Any more advice you have greatfully accepted.

Thanks for your comment Wufer. I think you are the closest to me I have seen on here. Seen your posts on some of the other forums I frequent. YES I KNOW. KITELIFE IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but there has to be some variety in life. By the way just bought this on Ebay. That will be 3 Rev 2.s now, can see a stack coming on. Like the solid colour on it. Still like my red one best though. And yes lets see a picture of your 2000. Must admit I have thought of making one myself. Got some dayglo orange ripstop here somewhere.
