blackbeard Posted July 25, 2006 Report Share Posted July 25, 2006 Just a observance that might help.I tried for months on 100 ft 150 lb test line was haveing a lot off trouble. Lately switched to 80 ft 90 lbs it did help a lot getting a little closer to kite.I do feel that later i would like to move out longer after i have more skill..If people feel this is poor advice...Please let us hear from you. RobB Posted July 27, 2006 Report Share Posted July 27, 2006 Hey BB, I totally agree, shorter lines have alot of advantages, and the lighter weight causes less line drag. You do get a larger window with longer lines, though. I find that lower wind requires shorter lines, too. I have tried lines from 50' 50# all the way up to 120' 220#. Obviously not on the same kite, but it's a huge variable that you can change. That's one of the reasons kiting is so interesting to me, there's lots of experimentation. Penny Lingenfelter Posted July 27, 2006 Report Share Posted July 27, 2006 Cutting down our Rev. lines from 100 ft. to 80 ft. helped a lot. Now I believe stock lines will be closer to 80 ft. then 100ft. I've flown 8 ft. to 200 ft. on the same Rev. 1.5.
