johnnyrebel
Hi all, im new to kiting, not really flown much other than a peter powell when i was younger. I have just bought ( awaiting delivery ) a kite called "HQ Hype" http://www.kiteshop.co.uk/xcart/kites/stun.../hype_p542.html from what i have read it looks to be a good starter kite for me to learn a few basics and make a start on simple tricks? has anybody got or tried one of these? have i bought a good/bad un? any input for a beginner would be greatly appreciated. thanks John
RobB
Hey John, Looks like a good kite. HQ makes good stuff, and it's over 6 ft. across, so it should be predictable and stable. I think the only mistake someone can make in choosing a first stunt kite is paying less than $30 for it. I found a guy the other day trying to fly a bargain rack kite, and he was about to throw it into the water, he was so frustrated. I let him try out my Acrobatx, gave him a couple pointers, and he was having a blast inside of 5 minutes. He was on his way to our local kite store to get a good kite (like an HQ) when the sun went down. Have a great time with that HQ ! ~Rob. johnnyrebel
Thanks rob, im off to the coast with it as soon as i get it (hopefully in the post in morning!) I know what you mean about cheap kites, ive made that mistake more than once and its just false economy because they just dont fly! lol, hope i have more luck with this kite. Thanks again John
Jorge Arellano
Hi Johnnyrebel, I have some start up kites, but they do not compare to the HQ Phoenix Supreme I have (I won it in a subscribers raffle here at Kitelife). It just flies so smooth and nice. The roar with strong winds is impressive and attracts a lot of attention. HQ kites are very good. I hope you enjoy your kite. Have a good day Jorge
johnnyrebel
Wow nice kite Jorge, Well the HQ Hype is a kite my brother and i have bought together to start with, so if all goes well with this HQ Hype i may be looking for another kite like your HQ phoenix supreme, i also like the look of the HQ Trion, bit pricey though. Thanks for your input John
johnnyrebel
Eventually got my kite and took it to the coast to fly, I wasnt dissapointed at all, it was a fantastic and easy kite to fly. Had comments from passers by on how well i was controlling it, i was lapping it all up but i wasnt that i was good its just the kite was so forgiving and easy, made me look like an experienced flyer! Cant wait to get out there again, I think this is the start of somthing beutiful!
