johnnyrebel Posted August 13, 2006 Report Posted August 13, 2006 Ive just bought myself a HQ Hype which came supplied with line, i think its 25m length 80lb. Im considering replacing the line with 30m but not sure what strength to get? will it make any differnce to the flying of the kite if i had 150lb. and will it be easier to fly in low winds with longer lines? Hey JR... I find that shorter, lighter lines work better in low wind conditions, and the longer ones work better with wind over 10mph. Heavier, longer lines seem to drag the kites down. ~Rob. Quote
ant man Posted August 13, 2006 Report Posted August 13, 2006 light winds light line heavy winds heavy line Quote
johnnyrebel Posted August 14, 2006 Author Report Posted August 14, 2006 So it would be worth having 2 sets of lines then for differnt wind speeds? If i keep my 25m 80lbs for lighter winds then and perhaps buy 30m 200lb for heavier winds? Quote

Hey JR... If the kite came from the factory with 80# line, I think 200# would be overkill. For higher wind, I would try something 100'-120' long, maybe 150#. That would be a nice lineset to have, you could use it for a wide range of kites. The only kite I use 200# line is a kite with a 10' wingspan, and then only when the wind is over 10mph. ~Rob. Quote
ant man Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 depending on your wind speeds in your area 100# 120 would work well if you always have a heavy wind factor and its always good to have 2 or more line sets for diffrent winds no 2 days of winds are alike remember that Quote
johnnyrebel Posted August 15, 2006 Author Report Posted August 15, 2006 Thanks for the advice guys! Quote

Tristan Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 The best kind of line to use for all winds is 90 pound line. Quote
