Zippered Kite Bag or Roll Up Kite Bag

Hey everyone, need some opinions please. I think I want a new kite bag to carry 9-12 quads with room for 4-6 complete card winder, handle, spike, line set bundles. I am currently using a 40 inch padded tripod bag that is 6 inches in diameter for 3 quads and 4 line set bundles.

I really like the zipper styled bag but have never used a roll up for kites. My collection has grown and I now need to get a new tote or add a couple of more small ones. I do not get around a lot of serious kiters often, so I really am not sure what are the best options. Since I now need to invest in a new bag, I do not want to be disappointed in a few months.

If Into The Wind made a 40 inch bag, that would be almost perfect. Not quite, but almost.

So, would you just use 3 of these tripod bags which are padded but have no pockets? The line set bundles just lay beside the kites if the bag is not overstuffed. Problem with this is the collection is broken up in multiple bags, all bags would not have a full selection of line sets, and at some point the wrong bag will be taken to the wrong place etc. etc…

Would you find a larger diameter 40 inch zippered bag maybe with a couple of pockets? This bag would hold all of the quads? This option I would probably have Breezefabricworks make one to my specs.

Lastly, would you get a roll up? To me it seems like a pain to unroll it each time, but everything is surely organized.

I also like the backpack option with breezefabricworks.

Any opinions? Are roll ups the way? Is carrying a dozen kites all the time a pain? Are smaller bags better? Thanks in advance.

It's about tradeoffs and personal choice.

Roll up is my personal choice. As you wrote, the benefit is organization at the cost a few seconds of time. It takes a few seconds longer to clean up, and everything has a place. I can shrink or grow the bag up to its maximum capacity. On the flip side, I can't just throw it all in the bag, I need to slide it into a pocket then spend a few seconds rolling it up. It isn't much, but it is something.

There are only two times where I prefer a zipper bag. If I need to pull out a kite for a repair or to show something off, it takes a few extra seconds and a bit of extra space to unroll it. I keep the bag in the back of my vehicle so I can open it up, but it's not as easy as it would be to open a zipper and pull out what I want directly. The other time is when I'm out flying and need to move for some reason, it would save some seconds to just pull a tab rather than roll it up.  Both are pretty rare occasions, and not a big deal but instead an occasional petty annoyance.

I prefer having them all rolled out in front of me. I never have to dig for anything, I can see exactly what is in my bag and it's all kept sorted and organized. There is no hunting or digging for something. I imagine the few seconds of time saved each time going through the kites is roughly the same as the few seconds of time spent wrapping up at the end.

I also had a rollbag in the beginning and found it quite practical: compartments for the kites, trays for the winders and stakes etc. 

But after my collection got bigger and bigger and other kites (single and dual line) were added, I switched to the "zipper styled bag" and stayed. 

It is easier and faster to pack the kites in the bag. For handles, lines, stakes and other small stuff (for repair and so on) I have different small bags.

On the field, I reach into the big kite bag and I pull out 1-2 kites for today and the handles with lines are handy in the small handbag.  I do not have to look for anything together, forget nothing and am so m.odular.
