Jorge Arellano Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 Good day, I found out yesterday at the local mall here in Queretaro, Mexico, that an ice cream franchise is promoting kiting, something I haven´t seen here for a long time. When you buy a double cone plus 50 pesos (around USD 4.50) you get a beatiful nylon diamond shape kite with a tail and a 50 ft line. Maybe is not the greatest kite in the world, but I think is a great way to start kids in this beautiful hobbie. I hope this increases the kite flyers in the country. Have a good day Jorge Quote

WOW!.... $4.50 for a double Icecream cone!.... but you get a kite too.... what a great idea... all those potential new young kiteflyers (young and old) getting an intro to kiting... Great idea! Is it a big franchise? What are the malls like down there? are they simlar to here? I've been to alot of countries, but not much in Mexico. Good idea... Quote

Jorge Arellano Posted June 23, 2004 Author Report Posted June 23, 2004 Hi Underleaf and John, the Ice cream franchise name is Holanda, is part of Unilever and Anderson Clayton, the ice cream stores are found is most malls around the country. The malls are pretty much like those in USA. Here is a link to the site where a picture of the kite can be seen. http://modules.heladosholanda.com.mx/promos/txt.asp I´ve got one of those with a pistachio and vanilla cone the other day and the cone tasted great , the kite... well, rain season is here, no much wind to test the kite, but I will let you know as soon as I fly it. In the time I buy my ice cream and seat to eat it, three more kites were sold to people of different ages. So I suppose there´s going to be a new wave of kite flyers around. Have a great day Jorge Quote
