RescueRev Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Rev fliers, I am new to this group and new to the style of forum you use. With some help and a little time I am sure I can figure out how get involved in your discussions. I started flying Revs last year because of one of my best friends who got me hooked. I have flown single line Parafoils and quad line kites. Never tried duel lines again due to my good friend. I live about 60 miles East of Newport Oregon in Albany. The display name I am using is RescueRev; this is because of my background. I was in the Coast Guard for 22 years and flew search and rescue in helicopters and I was the rescue man in the back. So if we are ever flying together on the beach and you crash you Rev really bad I will probably revert back to my Coast Guard training and run to its rescue. I have had some experience with these runs with my Revs. One thing that I have learned while flying Revs is the rescue runs are usually within a distance of a 120’ and now that I am retired I like that a lotJ One of the reasons for joining these forums is in the hopes of finding some local Rev fliers in the Albany area. I can really use the help and it is always more fun to fly with others. Also the knowledge collectively gathered in one location like this is great. I have read most of the posts on these forums and they have helped with my Rev experience a lot. So thanks to all of you and your posts and I will look forward to entering into your discussions. John Barresi Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 We've also got the Brookings Kite Festival coming up, just north of the CA/OR border. http://www.sokf.org Not much room for non-invited pilots to fly, but a GREAT show, and great kite people. Quote
Dean750 Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 I'm thinking I might be able to make it to Lincoln City after all and WILL be in Brookings. Was a little disappointed to hear about the lack of room for flying though. Gary said he'd let me fly his Gull's. Anyone else want to let me fly thier kites? John? Dean Quote

Did you try the "forgot password" option on the Rev forum? I show that email address registered as "Proxima", same first & last name, signed up on 9/5/07. Click that link above and give it your email address, you'll receive instructions in your email to reset your password. Quote

Given a little wind and some supervision, it'd be my pleasure. The day show runs pretty tight and the field is full, but in the afternoon and early morning, flying is wide open to all. Quote
Dean750 Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 I'll hold you to it John. I won't worry so much about supervision if you want to try the M. And I'll try not to worry you too much if I get the chance Dean Quote
John Barresi Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Fair enough! I was thinking of my Revs, and the heavy-brake tuning I use. Quote
RescueRev Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 Fair enough!I was thinking of my Revs, and the heavy-brake tuning I use. Hi John, I tried what you said and I was registered as Proxima. I did that when I first got my Revs and forgot all about it. I guess that is why I don't have any posts on the Rev forum. So I got that stright and now I would just like to change my user namr from Proxims to RescueRev on the Rev forum. Any Ideas? I will also be at Linclon City camped at Devils Lake. The only bummer is I haft to leave Saturday afternoon to go to a grand daughter function in Portland. I will return Saturday night and get all day Sunday to play. I will also make the Long Beach Kite Festival and possibly Brookings. RescueRev Quote
John Barresi Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 User name changed, per the email confirmation you'll have received by now. Won't be at Long Beach this year, iQuad is headed to England instead. <grin> Quote

Won't be at Long Beach this year, iQuad is headed to England instead. <grin> It must be nice to travel like that. You are living the life that most of us only dream of:) I guess I dream about a life like that because I didn't have the guts to live one like that. It must be a security thing. So if in your travels you find you need a kite caddy RescueRev to the rescue:) As you can see I havn't learned how to put the yellow smiley faces into my tex yet but I am working on that. Some really good news, I am headed out to a local park to meet up with Dean750 to fly our revs. I made my first posts yesterday looking for local kite fliers and 24 hours later I am off to meet up with a local flier. Life is good and this technoligy is super. Also thanks very much for your help. John Quote
John Barresi Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 It's a lot of hustle to get so much travel arranged... I'm swinging plans for 9 team members, Kitelife, and a few dozen web sites. But, the experience is well worth it, and I like to think we're making a positive impact on all fronts. Quote
