Guru4tru
Hi Hans, Sorry, but I live in Florida! But, Quantum was my first kite too! I sometimes throw a 100 foot tail on it. My wife has one too! A really great kite that can really take a lot of crashes without breaking, although I have broken a spar or two now and then...heehee! I still fly it sometimes and use it for teaching others how to fly! In a strong wind it's really exciting!! heehee! The AKA even made a T-Shrit out of one of my pictures with the Quantum!! Guru4tru
Hi Hans, By the way, I started with Gombergs book too! His book was a great help. I also got my kite tails from him. http://www.gombergkites.com One thing that you might want to do is to remove those attachment "clips". They sometimes cause big problems. I had one break on my in a strong wind and my kite spun to the ground at a thousand miles an hour crashing into a wooden fence. Broke the kite and the fence too...and after awhile I gave up on trying to untangle the lines! heehee! And sometimes they get caught on things. There great for beginners, but they should be changed over the Larkhead knots...that's the knot most used in kiting and it's really easy to do. http://prismkites.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1191289162 I cut off the heat shrink tubing and removed the clips. Then tie knots in the ends, if they aren't already there, and then tie your line to those knots with a Larkshead knot: Keep It Up!
