rexracer
Thanks for the info. I don't know if I'll get a chance to fly someone elses kite, at least around here. The only other rev I've ever seen in person was in San Francisco when vacationing last year. I do have a vented B, and I noticed right away that it felt more "locked in" to the air. I thought it might just be the venting, but maybe not. It definitely feels like it locks on center when you load it, while the SLE doesn't load up the same with a tug, and feels like it lets more air slide off of the edges. A full sail B, or Zen may have to wait, but I am going to get a roll of 50# and make up some lines.
John Barresi
A big part of the "locked in" feeling you're described can be attributed to venting in general (on Revs)... STD is semi-stable MID is a bit more stable VTD is way more stable XTRA is like a Cadillac The caveat of course, is that as the kite gets smoother (more venting), it also loses drive, snap with decreased acceleration off the line. It all comes down to a balance between the right frame (flex, but not too much) and the right amount of venting for the wind. == All that being said, the design differences in the B-Series accentuate these dynamics. End of the day, the right frame, tuning and technique will take you further than the "perfect kite" ever will.
John Barresi
I feel I can fly in lower winds in my B Std than my SLE Std both with Race frames. There is only a couple of km/h in it though. Some of this would be attributed not only to a difference in loading or sail pressure, but also in general handling.
rexracer
End of the day, the right frame, tuning and technique will take you further than the "perfect kite" ever will. I'm sure that's the largest part. I'll do what I can with the tools (kite, wind) I've got.
