So after wife talking me into it somewhat, and my own perked interest after watching someone on the beach do some things i have no seen done with the rev yet...

Some background:

So, im out here in st. petersburg, florida. Close to treasure island, skyway, ft desoto and other fabulous flying venues. wind conditions average around 3-8, some days we get fabulous 25+ during offshore storms (but I have a few power kites for that :) ).

Pretty good with duals, can pull all the tricks, precision is fine and I practice almost daily. I have a couple quad power kites, learned to fly kites on a quads so im familair with the control. Also have clocked in a few hours on the rev 1.5 recently and did fairly well I think...

So, assuming I havent left out any pertinent information, which rev's should I be looking at primarily, to start with (im sure ill get addicted despite the fact I dont think I will lol).

Once again, thank you for your time. It's quite exciting to finally have found a community of fliers and such magnificent fliers at that! B)

Find a Spirit Quad. They always were less expensive than the Rev brand jobbies, and they are a great kite to learn quads with.

Or buy a Rev 1.5 SLE.

I guess it really boils down to your personal image and characteristics. Do you want to be recognized as an individual, willing to follow a different path, or do you want to do and have what the crowd does and has?

Either kite (path) will produce very similar results. :)

Well, with respect to Revs, one can never go wrong with 1.5 SLEs, its probably Revolution's best "all around useful" Rev. For your wind conditions, you may want to look at the SUL version of it as well, it'll be a bit more forgiving in really light winds.

My personal favorite (lately at least) are Rev 1s, though they are more money. A nice, graceful 9 foot kite with a heavier feel to it than the 1.5.

And I do like Spirit Quads but, I find that their more symetrical flight to be annoying for me. I like a Rev's very definite difference between forward and reverse. But, a very nice kite regardless and at their current price, a good deal as well.

Ok so I was out and got to fly a 1.5 even more and im hooked. It's entrancing. I was totally missing the idea by expecting to be excited or enthralled about it. It's this calming almost trance-like state of control and power. Flew it pretty darn well too B)

I got some pics of me flying it too... coming very momentarily :)

WEEE Im set on a 1.5 SLE now. WEEEEEEE

Must say, Id never have gone out of my way to try a rev if it wasnt for watching you're masterful video's John. Real inspiration. So majestic.... It really is a complimenting experience to duals... from extreme and wild to majestic and controlled

Very neat ;):):)B)

Thank you Rob... What a compliment.

It's always cool when someone else taps into some of what you enjoy and find passion in... We see that all day long between kite fliers all over the world, that's what it's all about, for sure.

Pass it on!

Now, as for you Monkey... Your spanking is waiting in Whidbey.

Totally. Before I even got my sle up in the air this morning for the "first' time (it's actually blowing), I ended handing it off to 2 other kiters who hadnt flown one yet.

One of the few sports that's it's so much fun to share
