john030477 Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 One of my lines has stretched and i need to shorten it. Do i untie the dacron knot, slide the dacron slip down and reknot it, cutting off the excess? Is there anything I need to be aware of? I haven't found good instructions on how to do it. Quote
Dorsal Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 That's how to do it John. You might refrain from cutting off the excess, in case the other line stretches a bit also. Quote
John Barresi Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 If there's enough excess that it gets in the way, you can trim it... Worst case, you'll lose a few inches off your total length when it's all said and done. Quote
windofchange Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 After you re-tie the line and cut off the excess, you may want to hit it quickly with a cigarette lighter to keep the spectra line from freying out. Same can be done on the dacron sleeve if it has not been done already. Make sure not to get the flame on the section of line you are going to keep or it will damage it. Quote
ant man Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 slipping the sleeve is the right way just rember to put both lines on something straight you can use a ground stake but put in in the ground all the way to the head i have a setup in my back yard with a leveled pole their ary many things you can use but dont do it off the kite for the fact that the kite can move and you wont get an accurate reading Quote
