  1. I would like to get clarification. Paid subscribers only or all forum members?
  2. Okay, Karma folks, I feel the need to say something as I am deeply troubled at what I'm seeing. There is a great prize being offered, and here we are nearly a week into it and only 3 people are in. I would like to pose a question: Are you sitting out because you don't want a Nexus or because you don't want to come up with a next prize that would match up to what has already been offered? If its the former, that's understandable and requires no explanation. if you don't want the kite, you don't want it. If it's the latter (as I suspect), then I would like to apologize as someone who may have contributed to that feeling with my prize. This is not about one-upping each other. This is about sharing with our fellow flyers. I promise that no one will criticize any offered prize. A $5 set of tails, a kite sleeve, an old book that has the word kite, whatever you want to offer, get in this drawing and if you win, offer it. I will be the first one to get in to win your prize and I will genuinely be excited at the opportunity to win it. This should not be stressful. We all just want to have fun and fellowship with our fellow kite flyers. So get in this drawing, win it, and pass the Karma on.

  4. nick, I didn't feel like you were calling me out at all. I was just explaining how I came to choose what I was offering. I would totally go for a $50 limit on new things, or even less. the other side of the coin needs to be avoided as well. no one will want to be in if the prizes are junk. I am definitely interested in seeing what some other opinions are. this is way too cool of an idea to let wither away.
  5. my problem is a chronic inability to part with anything. it's like a hypersentamentality that makes me too attached to my stuff. that's why it was easier for me to offer something new (or a gift certificate for something new). analyzing the previous 2 prizes it seemed that $50 was proper. the extra subscription I offered was just my way of saying thanks to John for what he does. I was kind of hoping to start a trend there. having seen john's suggestion for non kite, but kiting related prizes, I have realized that I have several things I am willing to offer, now. I guess I'm just not creative enough. I really want to see this keep going, but it appears to me that fear of finding something to give for the next prize is keeping people from joining in. maybe we should set a value limit on prizes bought new for the drawing. that could encourage more participation. just some thoughts.
  6. I'm going to sit this one out, but I wanted to chime in with a great big thank you to Theresa and The Kite Shoppe. That is a phenomenal gesture. I'll be sure to send some Karma your way soon.
  7. If you hurry you can get your extra subscription before the B-Series drawing on 8/25.
  8. Alright folks, the drawing is done. Here we go: Using the RNG on random.org (John's RNG), the first "I'm in" was Dayhiker in post number 3, the final "I'm in" was rexracer in post #34. The RNG was asked to create a random list from 3 to 34. Karma comes back to those who give and the winner is rexracer, the one who started it all. Congratulations! Shoot me a message with your name and info and I will get everything set up with Cath and Eliot for your gift certificate. Once you've met the other requirements and posted the results of your fun with kite currency, I'll get everything worked out with John for your additional subscription. http://kitelife.com/forum/gallery/image/4962-/

RNG from random.org results for Karma drawing on 8-1-2013.
  10. Last chance, drawing is tomorrow. Is anyone else in?
  11. Probably gave this one too long. I'm anxious to see who the RNG feels is deserving
  12. Karma travels really fast. The Micron showed up today. Now to wait for some wind. Hopefully I don't have to wait too long. Thanks, Gavin, I will give it a great home. http://kitelife.com/forum/gallery/image/4948-/

    Micron And Neutron

Comparison of the Karma Micron with Kathy's "Neutron". The "Neutron" is actually a "Speedy" from Cavalier du Ciel Kites.
  16. Good luck, Nick. I'm going to post the entire RNG list so you can see how your luck fell.
  17. That's NOT my - "I'm In" post...............but I'll get to it soon...... Gotcha
  18. They have the no snag handles if that's what you mean by pro
  19. One quick question. I clicked on the highlighted Flying smiles kites and could not find anything on that web page but a lot of info about them. Is there a special place to go to see what they have for sale? Or is it on that page and I just cant find it thanks Mike Mike, their website does leave a little to be desired. Their desire is to not become an internet sales hub. They want to keep their brick and mortar identity. They have a facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/FlyingSmilesKites) that has some pictures of some of the stuff they sell. They have anything you could want Rev, they sell Prism now, Into the Wind, etc. Cath or Eliot (Eliot is a Rev Masterpiece kite maker) would be glad to chat with you on the phone if you win to help you find something to spend that gift certificate on. They are quality people that have helped me out a lot in my growth as a flyer. I wanted to send a bit of the Karma their way as well. I hope people don't shy away from this one because they don't have the best website.
