  1. Sweet. Would allow me to retire the Alpha+ for a real tricking dual line. Will go really nice with my B2 Suite.
  2. If you keep going east, I mean REALLY keep going east, then eventually you will get back to the west coast, where I live, which coincidentally happens to be where these kites are headed! Yes, but still, if you keep going east, well, I think you know where this is headed, that is if Barton doesn't shag it, on the way by Hmmmmm ! I think we are going in circles here. This is making my head hurt I can definitely promise they will not make it past me on that little trip.
  3. Nick's such a nice guy. It's almost a shame that I will be the eastern victor, rather than him.
  4. that's right RNG a 1 and a 0 followed by a 5 and a 2
  5. Get yourself focused RNG, 1052 that's what you need to be thinking. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  6. Nice Shook Weave. I like the simplicity.
  7. You can absolutely dream! You wouldn't be the first repeat winner. I just hope I get to join the ranks of the first time winners.
  8. Alright, KiteLifers, I'm new to your numbers, but I would like to put forth a challenge. On the right side of the main forum page is a gofundme advertisement where John and TK are asking for donations to help them move their operation to Long Beach, WA, where they feel they can more effectively serve the kiting community. I've only been around on this forum for a few days, but for years I have been hearing about John Barresi and his service to the kiting community. I've done some math and they are about $8400 shy of their goal. They hope to have the needed funds by October. As of the start of this particular drawing 324 people were active KiteLife subscribers. If 1/4 of us commit to just $15 per month between now and October they will hit their goal. Come on folks, let's get this done for John and TK. Who's in? Who is willing to eat out one less time a month? It's a $105 commitment, and i think they get more of the proceeds if you do a one time donation. Push that donate button and do something good for these folks that want to do good for us.
  9. Is this fundraising effort still ongoing. Anyone interested in reviving the effort. How about $10 from the subscribers? Only takes 50 of us to get to that next level. Let's give back to John and everyone at KiteLife for the efforts they make for all of us. Hell, I bet we could talk John into making it a monthly thing separate from the subscriber giveaway. Do it as a reverse raffle where everyone that ponied up is in the pot to start and each day a couple of people are drawn and eliminated? How about it? Anyone else in?
  10. I think it means you just need to win the lottery and move to the beach
  11. A reboot may be required. You can send them to me...I have a boot disk. It shouldn't take too long
  12. My worry wasn't for John. It was for the impression seeing that could make on a pilot of lesser skill.
  13. If you are talking about the "learn to fly" series, that looks like the same style that got me hooked. Quick, but not twitchy, forgiving, and nearly bombproof. Also imminently affordable.
  14. I don't want to be a spoil sport by any means, and I know that you guys are the best in the world at flying these kites, but rule number 1 that has always been beaten into my brain is to not fly kites near power lines. Those last 2 videos really don't set the best example for following that rule. Just sayin'
  15. Duct tape, bailing wire, weed eater line, nylon stockings, whatever it takes to get back on the trail or back in the air depending on if you are rough housing the jeep or pile driving the kite. Best hobbies there are!
  16. Article Idea for the mag: A Day in the Life of John Barresi You could write that in your free time.
  17. That would be something to see. How about a video?
  18. Trying to throw it back out would be no easy task either
  19. Until that rust gets on your hands, and then on that brand new $350 sail, then is called an, "Oh $%!# moment" There is that issue. Powder coating? How about this stuff: http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx?R=BK_7651232_0361152250 ? I have it on my jeep bumper and it's awesome. May need occasional reapplication, but could work.
  20. I'm still in awe that the great John Barresi went rods in front. That gives me such optimism about my abilities to develop as a Rev flyer. I guess I should thank the cheesy DVD instruction video with Joe and Jim Hadzicki in their finest late 80's apparel that came with my Rev II.
  21. Flying Smiles and A Wind of Change are my favorite shops. We take a yearly vacation to Corolla Island and I end up spending a great deal of time at the Flying Smiles Shop (aka the Corolla Island Airheads Clubhouse). Cath and Eliot are fun, welcoming, and knowledgeable. They're fun to fly with too. Eliot and I share the distinction of being kite flying engineers, so he and I will sit and discuss the mechanics of kite flight and the impacts of different types of adjustments and why they work in a mechanical l sense. Figuring out how things work is what we engineers do. A Wind of Change has easily the best kite shop website I've seen. Kent and Daelyn know how to provide excellent customer service, Kent has always been willing to answer my questions, and I'm sure I've asked some stupid questions. I fully intend to drop in whenever it is I make my first trip to Sin City. The flying out there sounds pretty great. I'm hoping that they maybe let me give buggying a try. Into the Wind is good for the shear variety of products they sell, many under their own brand. Never tried their customer service, though so I can't comment on that. What makes a good shop to me is salespeople/managers/owners who are actual flyers. A desire to help is a must. A good mix of products is nice. A corporate, evil empire, only interested in the bottom line, employing mindless non flying drones, mega franchise kite shop, only hurts the flying community, because people have a bad experience when they try to get help, Or they leave with some twitchy, probably expensive kite that is above their skill level at the recommendation of the "expert" that was helping them, but really only cared about making the biggest sell possible. They end up trying to fly for half a day, decide they can't do it so its no fun, they pack it up and don't fly again. Whereas a small, personable shop would recommend a proper kite, not try to break their bank, and maybe even go out with them to the nearby flying spot for a little lesson to get them started.
  22. Give Cath and Eliot at Flying Smiles a call. You won't get that treatment from them.
