Purple Quarantine

Time for a purple Quarantine Kite. Using 4 different Purples on this one. Time for something that really messes with the eyes.

That could look trippy (in a good way) in motion.

I know I said zig zag but I put the panels up to plan the zig zag cuts and I'm definitely having second thoughts.. Taking a pause to think about this.

That almost looks like scales. I can imagine it with a dragon head or serpent head on a large show kite.

Keep in mind this is also a double thickness created from the overlap and backlit.

Decided to stick with my original plan. the diamonds are very pretty on the overlap but would become very "stripey" if I went that way.

Panels are all sewn, Backlit to show detail and folded to show roughly what one half of the kite will look like. Edge Binding will be Purple. I still have to decide on Leading Edge..

Just need to tie a bridle for it.. This kite is ready to test.

Because I made the huge rectangle to explore the new pattern, I had quite a bit of extra material especially from the section where I cut out the Belly of the kite. Was playing with the pieces and found I had enough to make PQ II (Purple Quarantine II) A second sail with basically the same pattern but in the smaller 72" format..  I'm completely out of the black thread so This one will be accented in white thread.. 5 seams left to sew on the flat panel. This is all Trim from the first kite. Another reason for the white thread is the panels with white thread were originally going to be the bag for the first kite.

And the Quarantine Set is complete. I may make a Diamonds Balanced Vented sail to complete the wind range in Purple. (Keep in mind my vents are white so it will lighten up the set as a whole.)
