Got bitten by the kite bug while in Ocean City Maryland last month and bought a Prism Quantum kite right off the boardwalk. :) I have to admit, I suck at doing tricks, let alone keeping the kite in the air. :gathering:

Well it's been over a month and I'm still convulsing with kite fever. Amazed by John Barresi's video, I ordered and have just received my Rev I Sedgwick with SLE and extra 4-wrap LE. It's currently accompanying me for two weeks on the road. As lady luck would have it, the wind did not want to blow this weekend and did not get the chance to get the kite off the ground.

I've read many post that say replacing the LE with 3-wrap or even 2-wrap spars to lighten the kite. I remember John's post that for the video he was using a 2-wrap frame. My question is, does the term 'frame' mean that even the vertical spars were replaced with 2-wrap ones? Thanks for the help.

Yes it does. But I wouldn't bother with a two wrap frame until you get comfortable with the three wrap frame. Then get the two wrap for light winds 3 to about 6 or 8, and the three wrap for more wind. Two sets of frames and you have Two different kites.

Hey-o RC. ;)

I'd agree with Steve... Get really comfortable on the Rev before getting into a 2 wrap frame.

It's flexible enough, and fragile enough... It's better to be comfortable on the kite first. :)

But yes, I replace the verticals too.

Sometimes, to distribute strength and cut down on weight... I'll use a 4 wrap center LE rod, 3 wrap outer LE rods and 2 wrap verticals.

get a rev 1.5 it has a 3 wrap leading edge that you can learn on in time you can order a 2 wrap frame the larger LE that comes with that kite is much stronger and is good for a higher wind witch is what you want 10 mph is a good learning curve once you get better the 2 wrap frame is better for light wind peformance but can break eazier then the 3 wrap frame
