tregan
Hi all, This is my first post but I have been lurking for the past couple months and learning alot. Thanks for all the great info everyone shares here. My question is has anyone here placed an order with www.bestkites.com? My wife did to buy me a present on Oct 3rd. Her credit card was charged that day for over $160.00 for the sale. "Tony" at bestkites.com first did e-mail and said the delivery was shipped, then a couple days later he said it wasn't shipped because he didn't have all the items in stock. Now for the past two weeks he will not answer telephone calls/voicemails and e-mails. What should I do? Thanks, Tim
Dorsal
I know Tony, and he is an upright guy. His wife has had some medical problems in the recent past, and maybe that has kept his mind from his online store. Just email him again to remind him, and tell him Dorsal will drive over and kick his dog if he doesn't treat you right.
tregan
Dorsal, We have e-mailed him atleast 5 times plus numerous phone calls (left voicemails) and still no response. We even emailed and called earlier today (Sunday). But thanks for the info and I may ask you later to get the dog. Thanks, Tim
The Kite Shoppe
Hi all, This is my first post but I have been lurking for the past couple months and learning alot. Why would he say he shipped, but then say he didn't? He doesn't always have the stuff in stock, and sometimes has had to ask manufacturers to 'drop ship' for him. Most manufacturers will NOT do this. He has even asked me to sell stuff to him when manufacturers have told me they refuse to sell to him. I do not believe he has an actual shop. Dennis, does he? Good luck, Tim. I hope you get your shipment soon.
Dorsal
No, he does not have a "Brick and Mortar" store, just online. He does keep quite a lot of kites and supplies in stock though.

SKITCH
I WAS CONSIDERING BUYING ANOTHER REV AND I LIKED THEIR PRICES. THNX FOR THE HEADS UP ON CUSTOMER SERVICE ISSUES. I SENT THEM AN EMAIL TONIGHT AND RECEIVED AN IMMEDIATE RESPONSE FROM TONY. HE STATED THAT HE HAD BEEN OUT OF THE COUNTRY FOR A WHILE. NOT A GREAT REASON FOR SOMEONE WHO HAD SENT THEM $$$$, BUT AT LEAST YOU CAN BE HOPEFUL THAT EVERYTHING IS OK. HOPE THIS HELPS. HIS REPLY: "Hello, I was away for almost a month in Europe and some orders did ship very late. Thanks for letting me know that. Tony Maninha" P
tregan
Update, After numerous e-mails to, and a scant few from Tony (Owner of BestKites.com), and over a month after placing the original order, I received it. Just prior to receiving the kites Tony sent me an e-mail stating he would refund the cost of one of the kites to "make up" for the delays. Well here it is two months later, several e-mails later, and several more lies from Tony later and still no refund. If it wasn't for the lies, I could of gotten over the long wait/delays to get the order and probably placed another order with Tony, but not only did he lie about the refund but also as to the shipping of the order and the excuses he gave to me and my wife about the cause of the delays (he kept changing his exuse as to the reason i.e. sick, out of town, UPS lost etc...). To Dorsal - If you ever see Tony you may want to warn him that if he keeps doing business this way he probably will not be in business much longer. To everyone else - Bestkites.com may have good prices but Buyer Beware!!! Remember you get what you pay for. From now on I'll gladly pay a few dollars more for proper, prompt, kind and truthful customer service. Tim

Jim
Hi, this is my first post to the forum. I have to order off the internet for any kites I buy. I live in the southern part of Iowa in about the middle of the state east and west, and there are no kite fliers or kite stores in this area. Even in our state capital, Des Moines, there are no kite stores. If there were a kite store near my home, I would definitely support it. Like someone already mentioned, just having parts and service available are worth a lot. I always try to support the local businesses. I would be willing to pay more to help keep someone in business. Since I have to order on line to get kites or accessories, I try to use places that are close to me. One place that I found on the net just this year is Midwestkites.com. They have been very reliable for me. I have never ordered from any kite store on the internet over the years that has not been prompt and efficient. Wish we had retailer here in this area, but I'm glad I have had good experiences with all my orders. I have been reading lots of the different subjects on this forum and have learned some interesting things. I do enjoy flying the dual-line kites. The single line fighters are fun too. Skyclad01
well im still going to the kiteshoppe when i get some money he he he The kiteshoppe is a wonderful place to do business with! Theresa really goes out of her way to make sure you are treated more than right (which is extremely rare with most any kind of busniess). So far ive bought 3 kites through them and everything has arrived very well packaged and has never arrived late. I will always refer them to people, and as long as im flying stunt kites, all my major purchases will be through them! The Kite Shoppe rocks!! Quad KiT
I 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and even 6th the recommendation to Midwest Kites! I have spent close to 2500 dollars in kites from them. Almost everyone of them REVs and everyone of them shipped to me free priority mail. Real time inventory available on their website and excellent people to work with. They hold a standard of excellence that exceeds my expectations 10 fold. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to purchase their first or 50th kite. I also would put my kite bag on the line and guarantee that if you were not happy they would make it right. I have came to know Rich and Lynn as great kite enthusiasts who are always willing to go the extra mile to make the customer happy and promote the sport that they both have a passion for. For Christmas I even received a quad set of Berry Blue lines 120feet, yup the set I have been dreaming about to experience the iQuad length. They were supposedly from Santa Claus but I'm sure his elves had something to do with it!
