sky_ape Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 Hi, I'm looking at getting a kite bag. There are only a few to choose from locally (postage may be an issue to get one from OS). There are 2 x HQ bags (10 kite capacity 140 & 180 cm) for $50-60 Australian & a more deluxe roll out bag with bells & wistles from Prism that can hold up to 20 kites for $180 Aus. Are the HQ bags durable/practical enough? Or should I think about the Prism? There is a significant price difference. Any opinions about these products? Anyone own one or know something? :confused!: Cheers, Mike p.s. oh yeh, there are no proper kite shops in Melbourne & I haven't looked at these bags, just online and through email contact with dealers. John Barresi Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 For an all purpose kite bag, you can't beat the large Prism roll up bag (R.U.B.)... It takes all my dualies and quads in one shot, holds a TON of kites. However, if you want a specialized Rev bag... Well, I LOVE my official Rev bag. Quote
sky_ape Posted January 17, 2007 Author Report Posted January 17, 2007 Cheers John, that Prism bag does look good. I think I may need something that big pretty soon as I'm suffering the same kite collecting disease as everyone else! Would this bag also fit a few large 9-12ft deltas as well as 4-5 stunters together + nick nacks? Cheers, Mike:) Quote
John Barresi Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 I'm confident it would hold all those toys, as long as the 9-12 ft deltas don't exceed the overall length of the bag. Knick knack storage is the only thing this bag is a little light on... It's well built for quite a few sets of line on plastic winders (like LaserPro), your straps/handles, some weights, etc... But isn't built for bulky items like halo spools. All in all, it's still my favorite bag when I carry more than Revs. Quote
John Barresi Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 FYI, these are what I use for traveling with my kites... SKB Standard Golf Case (single flier's kit) SKB Double Golf Case (we use this for iQuad's team gear) Unconditional lifetime warranty, watertight, easily replaceable parts and wheels that hold up to sand. Hard to beat. Quote
sky_ape Posted January 17, 2007 Author Report Posted January 17, 2007 Thanks heaps John! I might go that roll-out Prism bag. I've already suffered from buying lots of low end kite gear in past - so I won't be making the mistake with the bag. Those hard cases look like they'll do the international stuff pretty well. All the best:) Mike Quote
Stryker48 Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 I agree with John. I too have the Prism Roll Up bag, it's very well designed, with a 2 piece carbon fiber spine for extra reinforcement, 10 kite pockets, each with it's own mesh pocket for linsets, handles, tails and spares. You even get a "fanny pack" with bottom loading zipper. Roll Up Bag can hold 10 kites in bag sleeves plus an additional 10 kites. Full Length 6 feet. Bag and also be folded, fo easy transport and/or when you only want to take a few kites to the field. I can't say enough about this bag, IT ROCKS! Quote
John Barresi Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 FYI, for travel, some people also like the Flambeau Bazuka tubes... (sorry, shameless plugs, I know) Quote
ant man Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 i have my trusted big red duffle bags they are real nice and eazy to carry plus they fit in the back of my truck good as for the rev ans prism bags they too are the best Quote
Quad KiT Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 Love my Rev Bag, I also carry an Equity golf travel bag. I also love those Bazooka tubes, they fit very nice on top of the Subaru. I just plugged for 4 companies in two sentences, haha. I also love Berry Blue line! Sorry, had to make it 5 plugs Quote

Mate I live in Brisbane and recommend getting in touch with Briskites - he can get prism bags/ rsky etc I have 4 prism rollups and they have been very good - but I am about to add an RSky bag to the collection for my Rsky kites. It looks sweet. Email me if you want details Quote
