Baloo Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Hi Penny, yes dont forget the Rev 2, when John was in Blackheath I flew my old solid red Rev 2 alongside him 45+ mph winds. Did put 2 leading edges init though. Was great till I landed it a bit hard and popped the bungees through the sail. all fixed now and using it as paert of a 3 stack. Quote
Penny Lingenfelter Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 hahaha yes, the rev II's will take a beating. I have a vented Rev II that is easier yet. I"ve always preferred it to the reg. Rev. II. I'm pretty sure that Rev. I's had 4 wraps. BB Penny Quote
Baloo Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Thanks for wrap info, not tried a Vented 2, must give one a go if I see one. Not too likely here though. Will get in touch if I come over for a holliday, maybe I can try yours??????????? Quote
Penny Lingenfelter Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Thanks for wrap info, not tried a Vented 2, must give one a go if I see one. Not too likely here though. Will get in touch if I come over for a holliday, maybe I can try yours??????????? Absolutely. I'm actually on my second one in close to 17 years. When Rev. gave me a new one I gave the old one to a flying companion who worked with me giving lessons. The wind range is great, the lack of pull even better. I don't want to be tired or sore after flying till dark. It's beautiufl withh tails too. You come try my kite.. I don't think you'll need to bring wind.. I think it's out there.. oh, and like the cutting edge bumper sticker says.. The wind is out there... just don't pee into it. lol Sorry, I've got the bumper sticker (not on the car) and never shared that one. hehehe BB Penny Quote
johnnmitchell Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 I agree. I've seen 4 wraps brake in 25 mph on a Rev. 1.Hey, don't forget Rev II's. You guys will have your vented Rev. 1.5's down on the ground long before my vented 2 comes down. BB Penny~ I never managed to break REV I 4 wrap rod. I have even had the leading edge bowing over 90 degrees at times. How did it break? multiple pieces, two pieces, splitting or ? I did have a REV I (Stiff) 6 wrap split at the ferrule once, which was either transport damage or mfr defect. It would be a battle who stays up in the strongest winds, you with your REV II vented or me with my REV I super vented. Neither of us could beat the totally vented REV II that I saw in action at Fano Denmark years ago. Maybe somewhere I have a picture of it, maybe not. The only time I ever saw the wind stop at Fano, it was very strong wind from land (unusual). The wind stopped dead, a very tiny twister went across the beach and picked my dual line kite train straight up and dropped it. Then wind started howling from the from the sea. I am talking about a place where the wind rarely goes below 15-20 MPH. Quote
Baloo Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Nice one Penny. I did learn that lesson some time ago, you tend to get your own back!!!!!! Another thing I learnt, dont P on a hedge with an electric cattle fence the other side, that was a bit uncomfortable. Also a Lady guest with me one day, took short in the woods found that nettle stings in private places are not nice either. Anyway enough of the toilet humour. I do like the Rev 2, real fun little kite. Back on topic, nope cant think of anything to say at the moment that is on topic. Have a wonderfull weekend all. I am working but hope to get my kites out after work. Will fly a 1.5 then, there you are back on topic, a 1.5 in some wind. Quote
Penny Lingenfelter Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Way to save the day Baloo. Kites kites and more kites. Why fly the rest.. when Rev's are the best... oh... I didn't say that... I'm not a quad snob, I'm not I say! BB Penny ~Flying wind or no wind. Quote
Baloo Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Not quite got the hang of no wind yet Penny. Sure I will eventually. Quote
